TheSDTrucker Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 How are the fuel lines layed out on an 8v71? I would like to do some detailing on my engine and I'm not sure where all the fuel lines go.
Oldmopars Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 They are internal. The injectors sit inside the heads under the valve covers, the fuel line is inside the head, as well as the fuel rail that actuates them. Kind of like the Ford Power Stroke, you see no lines, they are internal to the head.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 The injectors are under the valve cover, but you can add some detail. Detroit Diesels were used in a wide variety of things and a variety of configurations. Here is the typical fuel set up: Here you can see the fuel pump: Fuel pump's location next to governor assembly. Fuel lines going into front of the heads: Fuel filter: Air shut down Air box drain

Oldmopars Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Thanks, these are great pictures, I am also doing a Green Leaker. The internet only gets you so far, this is great. BTW, I have had to do a tune up on one of these, what a pain. Adjusting the rack as seen is Fig 2 is not a lot of fun.
