How do the scales match up. the HEMI being rather large at 1/4th scale ?

I haven’t matched them yet. I thought the chassis was 1/4 scale too?

Yeah, the chassis is 1/4 scale too. Been a few years since I looked at it. The HEMI should fit with minor modifications I would think?

The original Renwal V-8 available on ebay. Priced at $129.99 with free shipping. Pretty good price and it's complete.

Renwal The Visible V-8

The price came down. I bit. We'll see if it's complete. This is one kit you DO NOT WANT if it's been started and glued anywhere, but the early flywheel and electric motor drive parts might make it worth restoring if anything is bodged, and/or missing.

Here's two I just recently built. In fact, I just finished the Revell Visible V-8 last night. The Franzis Mustang V-8 I built in the evening about a week ago. I have more info in a thread I started in the large scale section here.

There are also a plethora of 1/6th scale die cast kits from the likes of Liberty, Revell, Hawk and Testors.

Three years ago, I bought a three kit assortment of Hawk engines for about $60. I started working on one, but, couldn't "leave it alone", and got sidetracked by other projects, so, it's sitting...

Here's another one I got yesterday from Amazon. Four hours later, I had it finished. It's the 1/4 scale Porsche 911 by Franzis. I do question the scale being listed as 1/4 when you compare it to their own 1/3 Mustang motor. And The Renwal/Revell Visiable V-8. Also claimed to in 1/4 scale. Still a very nice kit.

Are the Liberty and the Revell kits the same engines with Liberty's being assembled?

Yes. The display stands often say "Liberty" on them, Hawk as well

My contribution to this thread is a Revell 1:6 Hemi 426 engine I built over 10 years ago.  The kit seems to have been produced in early 2000s. This is not something I usually build, but for some reason it attracted me.  It was a pre-painted kit, but that didn't stop me from doing some additional painting and adding bunch of detail parts.

With a little help from an a-daptor kit.. as Mr Cash put it...

Spotted  this pre-assembled one at a swap meet. Wish I'd kept the pic of the big scale Ford Indy engine I missed on the big auction site a few years back.

Too bad Renwall didn't do a Visible Allison engine kit  ?

How about a DeDion or Mercedes?

You can purchase metal castings to make working steam engines of various kinds.
