No clearance here and the girl said not to expect any any time soon.

Still picked up the "not so 68" Volkswagen kit though! Though a mixed up year kit it is still a nice one.:)

It is a European spec 68.

Fri., 6/22/18:  just dropped by the local Hobby Lobby.  This store has only been open for about 2 months.  They had quite a few heavily discounted kits, in the scale model aisle mixed in with the regular-priced kits.

All these were marked down to $7.49. I don't think I missed any, but may have:

AMT/R2 '57 Ford

Polar Lights McEwen Barracuda Funny Car

Revell '76 Ford Torino, both versions were marked down:  Starsky & Hutch, plus the regular stock Torino

Revell '64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt, last re-issue with both hoods

Revell Mazda RX-7

Revell Porsche 914

Revell Yenko '69 Corvette

Saw these at the HL in Matthews NC this afternoon. There was also a large scale motorcycle kit and one of the late model Revell Snapper Mustang kits.

I grabbed up two of the Thunderbolt kits and one of the Yenko Corvette kits because at $7.49, the wheels alone were worth it. Might trade them off, not sure yet.

On a related note, saw someone on a Facebook group posting the above kits for sale at $25 each, shipping included. Usually not a bad deal, but given that these kits were on sale for $7.49, someone is making a couple of bucks on each one.

Clearance discounts in effect here in the Motor City. I picked up six kits, some paint and some X-Acto blades all at 75 % off.

I got all of these at the HL in Mason, OH. The Tamiya Gama Goat was marked down from $50 to $12.49. The 1/32 Mustang was $5.99 and the Lindberg plane just $3.74. They also had the AMT Color Me Gone for $7.49 but someone else got the last one.

HMMM- that Gamma Goat wasn't marked down at the Hobby Lobby  I went to today. I would have bought it to make a hot rod/ dune buggy.

Nothing clearanced at the Glendale Az store on Thursday. If I had seen this earlier I would have tried again.

This store also does not scan. Wish they would, but then the prices would probably go up.

I had asked about scanning items a while back and was told the following by the person I usually deal with... They basically have most of the items in the store on sale at various times during the week (if you get their daily email updates you'll understand) and reprogramming sale prices would be a logistical nightmare. Guess it's been their business model for quite some time and doesn't seem likely to change any time soon.

I worked on VW's on and off over 20 years. It is still a mixed bag given the taillights and the engine that didn't appear until the 70s.

It reminds me of what was being built in Mexico after European production ended on the Beetle.

No clearance items in Deerfield; will check Vernon Hills this week. Really hoping for the '53 Ford pickup to go on sale, since I already have the Foose body parts to do a '56 conversion.

(By the way, if anyone got a '64 Fairlane to part out, I could use a flat hood... ;))

I had my eye on it for so long. I'm glad I waited.

Today's grab! If you're in Cincinnati, the HL near Glenway Crossing is cleaned out, and the one on Colerain has no markdowns... at least not yet.

From Shoopdog

"Just wondering here, but with no new products coming from Revell in the near future, what are they going to fill all those vacant spots with? Does Round2 have that many new releases that they will sell in there place?"

If nothing more comes from Revell to fill vacants spots on the shelf, HL will probably put more Polar Lights and Round 2 stuff. If that still doesn't fill;  well, there's subjects from Moebius.

Wouldn't that be interesting to see Moebius model car kits at HL being bought with the 40% off coupon.

HL in Bakersfield has nothing on Clearance. I asked and the person who normally stocks the Models looked at me like I was crazy. When I told her that other HLs had these kits on clearance she flat told me that I was wrong. She has been helpful in the past, so I just shut up. Bought the Lindberg Owens22' Cruiser boat.

When I was in HL last week (and posted the OP), I forgot to check the paints.  Went back today and got a bunch.  Couldn't resist those 1970s prices of just over a dollar a can for Testors spray paint!  The store is also having a 30% off sale on Krylon spray paint, so I stocked up on their Flat White.

No new mark-downs on kits in that store (Seneca, SC).  It had one Tamiya Gama-Goat but definitely not clearanced, it was still $49.99.  I always liked that bizarre., ugly vehicle. The Marine Corps was still using them when I was in, about a hundred years ago.  I thought nobody would ever make a model kit of it.

Then in 2010, Commanders Resin models came out with a 1/35 Gama Goat.  It's nice, with an engine and photo-etched metal parts, including the fenders and hood.  But it also has the air-bubbles, voids and other annoyances of many resin kits.

I remember telling myself I'd better get the resin kit, because surely nobody would ever do a Gama Goat in plastic.  Then three years later, guess what Tamiya releases...

I had a good day all around for Gama Goats - earlier the same day, while at a Half Price Books clearance sale up in Columbus, I found this for $2 still in the shrinkwrap.

I went to the other HL that I didn't hit last Saturday and found the Gama Goat for 75% off there( gonna make it a kind of dune buggy with shiny paint) along with the stock '76 Torino ( dull car but at $7.50 I wasn't going to let it pass), the 1/32 scale AMT Mustang,, the AMT Datsun 280ZX, and the Testor/Lindberg '37 Ford street rod.

Most of the clearance kits are the same from store to store but I wonder if some of the stores may have some unique mark downs( the Goat wasn't marked down at the first HL I visited but was at the second)?
