Here's a story that I'm sure many of us are familiar with:

I started this kit as a quick build while I was collecting parts for another project, my 77 AMC Hornet. After opening the Pacer and claiming the front seats along with steering wheel and attached column, I felt that I needed to do something with the rest of the kit. I couldn't just let it sit there, right?

The interior of this car is so tremendously visible that I felt I needed to do something to dress it up. Ultimately, I decided to build the Pacer as a vehicle inspired by a game I used to play back in the 80's, Car Wars. This would allow me to add some fun details, weapons, targeting computers etc.

I had multiple difficulties with this kit, some of which I'm sure were caused by the suspension modifications I made, but I finally got it knocked together. So, here it is!

I lifted the car front and rear to give an "off road" stance to match the knobby tires I selected for it.

The kit decals definitely have a bold 70's vibe to them.

"And a brush bar up front to complete the bill."

Who needs a horn when you have a .50 cal with a roof hatch?

I made a futuristic looking bar code number plate for it.

Here's a bit of the detail I made for the interior.

And the interior itself.

If you'd like to see all the boring details, here's a link to the build thread.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment.

That's the first time I've seen those awful graphics actually look right. Overall, pleasantly restrained. I like it.

Thanks Mike- The decals actually changed the character of the car quite a bit. I just wish they'd taken a little more care in the layout of the ends and how they mated with the belt-line of the car.

Man I was a huge Car Wars fan.  Good to see one in 3-D.  Makes we want to play too.

Awesome. Loved car wars. Peter Jackson games.

Thanks Alan and Andre, maybe we should start a Car Wars build thread. I already have a couple more ideas in the wings.

Long live the AADA- Phoenix Chapter, 602!

Ok then, There seems to be some interest in a Car Wars build thread.

Now should I start a separate thread or switch this one over?

For those who are unfamiliar, I'd probably have to post some information about the Car Wars game and a bit of its history.

Let me know what you think.
