Koellefornia Kid Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Hi there, here is my ´54 Chevy Bel Air, built in 2010. It started life as a Monogram 1953 Bel Air kit but I didn´t like the front very much. I used a Revell ´54 Panel Truck to borrow the font part of the hood, grille, bumpers and the frenched custom taillights. I shaved all handles and emblems, frenched the headlights and chopped the top a few scale inches. Suspension was lowered and I mounted Pegasus Centerliners and tires. Revell´s Vette Agin kit provided the engine. Thanks for looking, comments welcome! Greetings from Cologne, Germany
Scalper Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 looks nice.. when I saw 54 chevy I wa slike never seen that kitted
Bucky Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Your work makes it look long and low!! Great looking build! I really like the color, too!
Sixties Sam Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Great build! The chop looks great! Nice colors, too! Sam
Rider Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Neat looking chopped custom. Ya don't see many chopped '53's.
BeakDoc Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 That is one sharp looking build! Love those Centerliners on this particular body style. I currently have a set mocked up for a 70 1/2 Camaro build but I’m not sure how I feel about them on it.
Koellefornia Kid Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Thank you for your kind words! Color is Opel apache metallic and VW crystal silver for the roof, both from the spray can. The build was inspired by a car that Chip Foose built for Wes Rydell in 2007... ...but I thought a car like that might look cooler with a chopped top... I wish that Revell would have offered a kit of the Cool Air among all the other Foose-kits. But building it on my own, with a few personal touches, was a lot of fun, too.

If I recall correctly, there was trim parts for the '53 and '54 in this kit.
Oldcarfan27 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 I like yours better, something about Foose's cars look too "trendy" to me. It's kinda like how dated Boyd's Chezoom, Cadzilla and Alumacoupe look these days - Very 80s!
Koellefornia Kid Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 Thanks Patrick, I spent my teenage years in the 1990s so I was very much influenced by the cars of the Boyd Coddington-era. You´re right, they´re dated but I still like them. The Cadzzilla is definitely on my to-do-list.
