Oldmopars Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I have a special project that I am building and I need the old pale forest service green color. I have looked all over and just don't seem to find the right color. Anyone know where I can find a bottle of Acrylic Forest Service Green? I do not want to rattlecan it or use enamel.
SfanGoch Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 (edited) The Federal Standard Number for Forest Service Green is 34350. A dead match to Forest Service Green in model paints is PollyScale New York Central Jade Green. Good luck finding any. Tru-Color TCP-043 New York Central Jade Green is your only option. You won't find any other hobby paint which is even remotely close. Why don't you just paint it Forest Service White? USFS stopped painting their equipment green because it cost 500 bucks per vehicle. I am painting it Green, because the vehicle I am doing is a 1974, it would not have been white in 1974. I will look for the Jade green. Thanks
Paul Hettick Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Check your hardware store. I think rustoleum makes it. BTW useless trivia: Forest Service Green was copied from 1957 Mercury Lexington Green.
Snake45 Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 If I wanted that color, I'd start with either 1970 Ford Grabber Green or MiG Cockpit Green and add white till it looked right. But you want acrylic, so it might be even easier: Go to Walmart, AC Moore, Michael's, or Hobby Lobby and check out the acrylic craft paints. I'd be willing to bet that you can find something close to an exact match, and at a fraction of the price of typical "hobby" paints.
Mike Chernecki Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Try this paint code and just order it from ScaleFinishes in BaseCoat. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?type=sample&ditzler=44595&syear=1993&smanuf=GM&smake=Chevrolet&smodel=Chevy Truck&sname=Green&name=gm1993fleetWE5639&scomm=Chevrolet Cheyenne W/T 1500
Oldmopars Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 Thanks guys, I will give these suggestions a try. I do have some HL green acrylic that I may try to add white to, to get the right shade.
