unclescott58 Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 This was built from an AMT reissue of the original MPC '69 Mustang Mach I kit. As noted in Tim Boyd's book, Collecting Muscle Car Model Kits, even though MPC claimed it to be a Mach I. It is not. The kit has always come with GT hub caps and gas filler cap. Not correct for a Mach I. So that's how I decided to build this one, without the Mach I decals. Making it a GT. I still need to find correct GT stripes for the car. Otherwise it's done.
vamach1 Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) You are correct it is not a Mach1 although it's easy to do if you add the shaker hood or Mach1 hood scoop, decals, a stock gas cap and either hub caps or Magnum 500's. With all that chrome a black wash would help tone it done a little. Ditto for the wheels and the Motolow pen is great for doing the chrome trim around the windshield, etc. Some side mirrors from maybe the AMT 67/68 and plain stipe decals as in the picture and your pony will be hard to tame. Keep building those nice Mustangs you do not see too often. Edited October 9, 2018 by vamach1
Bob Ellis Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I like this MPC kit, Though the original AMT has a more accurate shape, it has a plain boring chassis.
Sledsel Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Very nice. Even with the boring chassis, I like these type of kits
