magicmustang Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) After seeing the thread on Kookie's Tee and comparing it to Ivo's, I decided to try and build one (Ivo's) from the parts in the AMT '25 T double kit. Engine is from an Ivo Showboat Dragster, wheels are from a Deora kit, tires are from a '49 Ford Gasman kit ( thanks Alexis), inner wheels from the parts box and the rest from the '25 T kit. Liked the chrome wheels better than the black steelies. Still working on a rear bumper. Comments, pro and con are welcome. Edited October 31, 2018 by magicmustang
Phildaupho Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 You have come vey close to capturing the look of the Ivo T. It and the Kookie T are two of my all time favourites so I will have to track down the thread you mention. I tried building a Kookie T a few years ago and felt I got fairly close but it definitely was not a replica. 100% replicas are very hard to do.

The Kookie's Tee was beyond my level, like to see your build. Edited October 18, 2018 by magicmustang

Hello Gerald - I could only find this one photo of my Kookie T. Notice it has a quick-change which the original did not. I built from the Revell 1/24 T kit which came with the pin-strip decals. This kit would also be a good starting point for the Ivo T as I think it was based on the Big T which was inspired by the Ivo T. The real Kookie T has a new owner who is rumoured to be wanting to restore it back to its 77 Sunset Strip configuration. I saw a very well done clone in the late 1990's at the Grand National Roadster Show that was displayed with scaled up bottles of Testors.

The closest match for the Kookie's Tee headers and engine I found in the Revell Ed Roth's "Outlaw" kit. I didn't even try to do the pinstriping on my Ivo T. Edited October 18, 2018 by magicmustang

Very interesting. I also dug my old model out of the display case for a closer look. I would say it was definitely inspired by the Kookie T and could be described as a tribute bit certainly not a replica. I used the kit SBC albeit with a Parts-Pak Cady 4 carb induction. The headers are also from the kit although shortened. The frame and bed were also shortened but I always regretted not giving it more of rake. It has a chopped down resin Deuce grill shell with a photo-etched grill. I took photo with my phone while writing this so it a little fuzzy.

Dave Darby Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I'm going to have to get busy on my two...
magicmustang Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 Good start! How long have you been working on them?
magicmustang Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 (edited) Update. Found a close bumper in the parts box. Any suggestions for the pinstriping decals? Edited October 29, 2018 by magicmustang
