Because it makes a statement about the wearer's mental state. :D

How quickly we forgot about Lady Gaga's meat dress. That was real raw beef, not just print on fabric.

Channeling Dave Barry here, "Meat Jacket" would make a great name for a rock band....

Or FMJ (full meat jacket) would make an interesting round for a particular type of game. ;)

Watched that the other night. Why was the Sargent yelling at Pile with that crazy looke in his eyes and he was locked and loaded?

Because he was a DI. Drill sergeants/instructors don't stand for any kind of happy horsefeathers from trainees. They need to establish exactly who's in charge. They can't show fear, especially in situations like that; and, attempt to take control of the situation as quickly as possible. I've seen similar things at Ft. Benning. Our Drill sergeant, SFC John Golloday, snatched a locked and loaded M16A1 from a dude called Spanky at the qualification range and beat him unconscious with it after Spanky threatened to blow Golloday's head off.

There's a band called the Meat Puppets. They were regulars at CBGB's back in the '80s and '90s.

Back in the day, an actress wore a dress made of lettuce on the Tonight Show.  Johnny Carson was the host at the time.  They had one heck of a time trying to keep that dress cool so it would not wilt due to the hot lighting on the set.  I don't understand it either, but they do it because they can.

Rest in peace R. Lee.... ?

Indeed. Probably the only person on Earth who could make a GEICO commercial almost interesting.

Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorite flicks... He used some "very colorful" language during the boot camp segment of the movie.... ??

All of his dialogue was improvised, stream-of-consciousness. Stanley Kubrick let him loose.

Yep,I heard that too.Kubrick gave him the ok to say whatever came to mind. That's what made his part so good. After all,he was a real Drill Sargent back in the day..RIP Sarge
