MG Brown Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 First shots of the Monte Carlo from Salvino's JR Models Facebook Page. They say there are some more details to be worked out before production. This is all I know- contact them directly if you have questions. Thank You.
MarkJ Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 That's going to be awesome. There are so many excellent Montes Carlos to do from that era. Hopefully Powerslide will get to work on some decals for these.
Jim N Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I think the test shot looks great as well. This will be so much better than using a resin body or converting the Revell snap kit.

Tom Louis Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Looks great! Does it have the long truck arms?

Tom Louis Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 The seat looks like the same one we have seen many times before.
yellowsportwagon Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Something on the roof looks off to me. Almost like it’s too tall at the back. I’ve never seen a model plastic or otherwise that gets this roof shape right. Edited December 8, 2018 by yellowsportwagon Spell

'70 Grande Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Along with the rear bumper seeming a bit over-extended, I think the front bumper looks alittle too "snug" and tight/close to the front bodywork. (But I also realize that many 1:1 Nascar builders of that era did move front bumpers backwards/tighter to the bodywork).
R.J Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) Salvinos JR Models are proud to announce our LIMITED RELEASE Donnie Allison 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Donnie Allison’s final victory was the 1978 Dixie 500 in his #1 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1/25th scale kit includes injection molded high quality polystyrene parts and the highest resolution decals ever offered in a model car kit. Found this today looks like they signed a deal with Donnie Allison as the first Chevy will be the same driver and sponsor as the last Olds. Edited December 9, 2018 by R.J
R.J Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 The Bumpers can be worked with the main issue I see that stands out to me is the roof line along the top where the top of the door class would seat if rolled up. That line should be the same from the top corner of the windshield all the way back to the sail panel / B-pillar it should be narrow width all the way back not get wider . I know this is not the final so hopefully some of these things will be adjusted before production.

And the line turns down the a pillar rather than curving around the top of the windshield. If they don’t fix it a sanding block can make it better for sure.
Dave Van Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 I will wait until I have it in hand.......but based on photos it will not get a A+ grade from me. Why they did not look at the Revell Monte Carlo kit to get basic shapes in a eaasy way??? Revell kit
yellowsportwagon Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Honestly I think the roofline on that one is just as bad. They both look to boxy. The real thing flowed more. I’ll bet I can fix it easy enough. I’m not afraid to sand the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of it if I have to.
Dave Van Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 The Revell is not perfect.....but MUCH closer that the PHOTOS of the JR kit LOOK. The JR's front fenders, bumpers and the trunk and TV panel, along with roof, all LOOK funky to me even compared to the Revell. As I said....until I get one in hand.
MarkJ Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 I used the Revell snap kit "Wheels of fire Monte Carlo" body witjh an AMT early 90's nascar kit for the chassis to build this one.
MarkJ Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Thanks, Tim. That was one model I always wanted to do. Earnhardt's first cup win car.
Dave Van Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 If the Salvino's MC looks that good I'll be OK....buy buy a number of them.
R.J Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I do not know how true it is but it looks like the site is saying the Monte Carlo will ship on January 14th
