Just got the email.  Here's a link to the weekly ad showing all hobbies, including model kits, at 20% off. Plus a 40% off coupon for any one item, if you need it.

20% off HL model prices still leaves them more expensive than my LHS.

The bad part about this is, they won't give you the 40% off on kits while the sale is going on. Understandable that they won't give you 40% off what's already 20% off, but they won't even give you the 40% off the regular price, because now everything is keyed into the system at the sale price. 

Thanks for the warning. I know not to waste my time going this week.

They typically run their model kits on sale right before Christmas- sometimes 20%, sometimes 30%. Unless you need it, wait until after Christmas and  use the 40% off coupon.

OK thanks, I wasn't aware of that. If I stop in during this sale, maybe I'll use the 40% off coupon for a fresh can of DullCote. Or Tamiya fine white primer.

Anyone else remember the days where they would regularly have all plastic model kits at 30 or 40%, no coupon? Used to happen 2-3 times a year. And I'm not complaining, because I still get to use my 40% once a week and no waiting for the sale. Just reminiscing

Nope. Mine has never discounted all kits at more than 20% off, though a few months back they did have some smokin' deals on about a dozen or so closeouts.

I know I'm not imagining it, and it wasn't clearance. it was a true sale. It was about 15-16 years ago when i first moved to the mid-west. I'd never heard of Hobby Lobby before i moved here. Last time I remember one of those sales was probably around 2010

I remember they would run kits at the 30 or 40% off from time to time. Then they went to 30% off during the holidays. Sometimes they will clearance out kits at 75%, most of the time it's 40%. 

Whatever the case, I have enough kits to last me several lifetimes so now my purchasing decisions are based on whether or not I will actually build the subject.

The 20% off goes until December 8th.  Was at Hobby Lobby today and saw the sign. Model car section was full.  I guess a lot of people are waiting after Dec. 8 to use the 40% off coupon.

They might do 30% off next week, and alternate with the 20% until after Christmas.  If you absolutely have to have something, hold off until then.

I work and I was surprised to see the 20% off signs. Toys and hobbies rarely go on sale and when they do it's usually 30%. You can still use the 40% coupon on any one item per day. When models are clearanced, they start out at 60% off, then reduced another 40% at a later date. That's how some kits go for $7-10.
