R.D.F. Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Hi I just got back into model building and I'm kit bashing the Revell 41 Willys gasser. I would like to paint it burnt orange metallic. I saw Tamiya has a color but don't know how looks. (PS61) Also dupli color makes a paint I believe for a Nissan. Thanks
Snake45 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Testor Fiery Orange over a black primer comes very, very close to the old AMT Burnt Orange lacquer.
maltsr Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Tamiya TS92 Orange Metallic would be a better choice than PS61, this is how it looks over grey primer.
R.D.F. Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 malstr That is the color I'm after. Thanks.

R.D.F. Posted December 11, 2018 Author Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) I lucked out, a friend of mine had the TS92 paint. He had done a spoon test on white and gray primer and the white base looks better to me. The white is on the left. Edited December 11, 2018 by R.D.F.
Dentz Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 My '57 300...Testors Firey Orange lacquer over black primer. If you have an auto body and paint supply store near you, you can get a spray can made of true Mopar Dark Burnt Orange Metallic. Code K5 (1970)
espo Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 The TS-92 from Tamiya is maybe the easiest to work with, but a couple of other paints to consider are from Testors in their One Coat Lacquer series. They have two different shades of Orange Mt. and as you have already found the color can be changed by what color primer you use. Their #1831 Mica Fiery Orange is the lighter of the two. The other is #1840 Flaming Orange is a little brighter.
