Hi

I just got back into model building and I'm kit bashing the Revell 41 Willys gasser.

I would like to paint it burnt orange metallic.

I saw Tamiya has a color but don't know how looks. (PS61)

Also dupli color makes a paint I believe for a Nissan.

Thanks

Tamiya TS92 Orange Metallic would be a better choice than PS61, this is how it looks over grey primer.P1080492.thumb.JPG.dc21d14bd387d842e6315f135bbdc53e.JPG

Got a closeup pic of that.?

I would love to see how much metallic is in it

Perfect,

I will have to pick some of this paint up and do a spoon test.

I have a project In mind for a color like this

I lucked out, a friend of mine had the TS92 paint. He had done a spoon test on white and gray primer and the white base looks better to me. The white is on the left.

My '57 300...Testors Firey Orange lacquer over black primer. If you have an auto body and paint supply store near you, you can get a spray can made of true Mopar Dark Burnt Orange Metallic. Code K5 (1970)

The TS-92 from Tamiya is maybe the easiest to work with, but a couple of other paints to consider are from Testors in their One Coat Lacquer series. They have two different shades of Orange Mt. and as you have already found the color can be changed by what color primer you use. Their #1831 Mica Fiery Orange is the lighter of the two. The other is #1840 Flaming Orange is a little brighter.

Fiery Orange is a nice color, but it's MUCH too flaky/sparkly for any kind of factory paint. Here it is over black primer.
