larrygre Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Anyone know of decent photo references on these cars from the movie "American Graffiti"? 1. The white '58 Chevy as driven by Ron Howard 2. The Pharoahs' chopped '51 Mercury 3. Toad's blue Citroen 2CV Many thanks in advance, my friends.

HotRodaSaurus Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) Anyone know of decent photo references on these cars from the movie "American Graffiti"? 1. This featured the big three but only the Chev that you are interested in. I think there was a small picture of the Mercury but no interior. This mag sells for a fair price when they come up on the 'Bay' but you should find one Another copy (cannot remeber the issue)had a big feature on the Mercury when Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats band bought it. I believe he had it re-chopped and finished to a far better quality than when used for filming as the car used was fairly stock with just a bit of de-chroming ,chopped and some wheel covers. The chop was awfull on the original. I dont have it but someone made a diecast of this car with this chop and it looks totally wrong, that is to say an equal chop front and rear. The 2CV would be pretty standard I guess. There are other magazines but they deal mainly with the coupe, though you may find other still shots featuring the other cars in the background or on set Hope that is some use, John Edited August 19, 2008 by HotRodaSaurus

Harry P. Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Buy the Movie on DVD and take screen shots from your computer.... best source possible for accurate details! Better idea: RENT the movie for just a buck or two and do the same thing. Unless you want to own the movie, that is...
