Mr mopar Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Revell reissue 1964 Chevy Impala SS returns as a low rider and stock .
W-409 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Looks like they now have the rear differential fixed on the box. This is from the box of the previous Lowrider issue: Seriously speaking, I might have to buy one of these! I remember having a great time putting this kit together the previous time when it came out, so I'd like to do another.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Imho, as fine an Impala model as ever there was.

Mr mopar Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 The Foose kit comes with an Awesome K&N air filter I don't know if this kit does ?

Hahaha I just saw this yesterday on a trip to Michael's to use up some old gift cards. I showed the box to my girlfriend, who has very limited knowledge when it comes to cars, and even she spotted that in seconds. That gave me a pretty good laugh. I was going to buy it, too. Unfortunately, someone decided to steal all of the lowrider parts out of it. I could do without them, but it's the principal. Sometimes I don't really like people very much. Anyway, nice to see this one back out. Gotta love these old boats.
astroracer Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I noticed that too on the one I just got at JoAnn's. (With a 40% off coupon.)

astroracer Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Yea, they do, at least in the Flint Miller Rd. store. The model aisle has gone from a full length aisle to about a 1/4 of one though with pretty slim pickings.
Rusty92 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I'll probably get a few of these. Love the 64s and the low-rider culture.
unclescott58 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I've passed on this one in the past. But, seeing the box art above, it's going to be tough to pass on it this time. Good box art can get my money sometimes as much as a good kit can.
MrObsessive Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I've got several of these in my stash. IMO, this kit has THE MOST accurate GM 1963-64 B-Body two door hardtop roofline. Even the old '60's annuals to my eyes never got that quite right. I have a somewhat forlorn AMT '64 Pontiac Bonneville that's been calling my name to give it a roof swap with this Revell roof. The kit itself is quite nice.....VERY nicely detailed SBC and builds up with no issues as I've heard.
Casey Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Nice reference photo of the firewall, prior to the body drop stage of assembly:

The 327 is more representative of the 1962-66 Impalas than big blocks 409s , 396s and 427s. And the valve cover are so unique on the 327. Revell did a nice job recreating it in 1/25.
Brutalform Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Having a difficult time locating one of these 64 Impala kits. Performing a search on eBay often. I have built a couple of the AMT kits, but this one looks really nice.

Brutalform Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Someone must have bought it. I tried to add it to the cart, but, It’s not there now. Thanks anyway. Edited May 20, 2021 by Brutalform
Bob Ellis Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I am glad this kit comes with a small block 327. Most Impala kits seem to have only big blocks. Too many 409s.

MrObsessive Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 I never knew this kit was difficult to find now. Yeah.........the few that I've seen are going for some rather big bucks. ? I'm glad I got the couple that I did and also a junker body to boot. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I still say that Revell got this one 'bout dead perfect. Roof and all. Maybe that's why they're so scarce? Us modelers know a good kit when we see it!
carrucha Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 I am surprised that Revell discontinued this popular kit.
Mike999 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Why that '64 Impala 327 engine is getting so many compliments: separate fuel pump, water pump, oil filler tube, coil, alternator with bracket, etc. This is the instruction sheet from the Revell '64 Impala Lowrider. I'm not sure if the stock-only kit has the optional Holley carb shown here.
Exotics_Builder Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 One of those small block engines is finding its way into the Monogram 65 Impala because my first car was a 65 Impala SS with 327 300 HP and Powerglide.
niteowl7710 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 This is one of the "casualties" of the Hobbico implosion. It was released in 2018, so it was limited to however many kits wound up being produced prior to the sale.
