Hello

I'm looking to enhance my mini cooper by changing the stock mini cooper tires with some racing tires. Where would one find these?  Would a legends car tires work?

Thanks for your help!

Original Minis rolled on 10" rims. 12" was a common aftermarket "performance" upgrade.

Bear that in mind when you're looking for rolling stock. A 10" wheel is about 3/8 of an inch OD...at the tire mounting bead...(approx. 10mm) in 1/25 scale.

The biggest stock rims for a mini were 13s on the last few coopers but 12 is probably the most common. If its a tamiya mini there are upgrades available from japan of some very nice period  dunlop slicks. If you can find some, the minilights from the recent italeri are also pretty good and the slicks are pretty easy to fit on the drum sander dremel tool and sand down to the size you need. If your stuck I may have an extra set left over

Renaissance do some 13” Minilites intended for ‘70s Escort rally cars, which might do. Sadly, 12” ones are harder to come by... there’s a set in the SE Finecast white metal Mini kit, but it’s out of production (and an expensive kit, when you can get Revell or Tamiya kits for £15 or so...)

best,

M.

There's also the fujimi curbside old mini kit which I believe has a set of 12" steels included. If you can find one of the 70s shape honda civic they might have wheels and tyres that would fit, or any of the early smaller japanese cars may have something but I dont know too much about them
