Kruzn Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 This is an odd one.... While working at Hobbico I did some business with a guy in California. One of his side businesses was contract building scale replicas for court trials (buildings, street scenes, crime scenes, etc.) as well as models for movies, TV, etc. He found out that I built/collected models and sent me this one for my collection. It was carved from wood and was a styling model for a 1:1 kit car company that never got off the ground. It is somewhat crude, but interesting.
Snake45 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 That IS pretty cool, and looks better than some similar efforts I could name from big-name custom builders.
PappyD340 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Real cool, never would have guessed that it was wood
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Not bad. Really not bad at all. Pretty decent, actually. Flows well, proportions are good. Yup, overall pretty nice.
Miatatom Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Sort of looks like a cross between a Chrysler Atlantic Concept Car and a 40 Ford. I love stuff like this. Originality, art, cool.

Russell C Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Altered the contrast a bit to get a better look at it. Tempting to steal the idea....

Spex84 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Thanks for sharing, that's really cool! Great lines and flow. The tires are maybe a bit too chunky, but the intent is clear. I like the swooping beltline, rolled-under fenders, and the taillight integration is pretty clean! This concept is clearly from the era of the Chrysler Atlantic, Ford Ka, Pronto Cruiser, Plymouth Prowler and other retro-styled concept cars that were so prevalent (and refreshing!) at the time. I see some 90s Dodge Viper in there, too. It also reminds me somewhat of the other mag's August '99 cover car:

geetee66 Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 I love this forum! I get to learn something new every time I login! It does bear a striking resemblance to the magazine cover. Very cool
