Turberticus Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 (edited) I just finished this build for a client. This raced in the IMSA GT series in the early 80's. The car is based on the Group 5 Zakspeed Ford Capri which raced in Europe in the late 70's. This particular car was fielded by Roush Racing during the 1981 and 1982 IMSA season. For a 37 year old kit it's pretty well detailed, although there were some fit issues that needed a little TLC. This was painted with Tamiya TS-26 pure white, TS-15 blue, Splash Paints 2K clear, and I used Indycals decals. Alclad polished aluminum, aluminum, gold and steel were used throughout. Bare metal foil was also used on the pipes/hoses in the engine bay. Overall this was a very enjoyable build of a unique looking race car. Edited March 1, 2019 by Turberticus
Gramps46 Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Oh yes, very nicely done. Especially the engine department.
Dave Van Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Nice neat work on a cool car........ The history of that kit is interesting. The design guy at Monogram was a Mustang owner and Ford came to Monogram and basically funded this kit. I have a few in the stash...need to build one!!!!
vamach1 Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Amazing build with what looks like a box stock build with excellent detailing.
'70 Grande Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Really, really like this build! Everything looks so "right" on it. Great paint and decal work and your engine compartment is outstanding!
Daddyfink Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Love these cars! The aggressive body lines and stance just really do it for me. And you did a heck of a job building this one!! Very nice.
Turberticus Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 Thanks for the feedback all! I'm pretty happy with this build.
TonyK Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Very nicely done! I like the detail I can see in the interior. Glad you enjoyed your build as I recall enjoying it many years ago also.
Scott Colmer Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 One of my favorite kits that I never built. You did a great job with it. Very clean build!
Rich Chernosky Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Great build, lots of attention to detail. I built all of these including this one. Its a cool collection worth doing well.
stinkybritches Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Very, very nice. I have one waiting in my stash, but I'm sure mine will look like it was built by a toddler compared to yours.
Scalper Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Great decal work.. nice work on this kit. super clean. makes me want to build mine
