fiatboy Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Was the Dodge Charger Daytona ever kitted with a proper NASCAR chassis under it? You know, roll cage, suspension, engine, wheels/tires, etc., etc. Thanks

I make my own out of Revell Charger Daytona kits. Not too difficult if you like to scratchbuilt. Here is some in progress pictures I’ll see if I can find some further along pictures.
yellowsportwagon Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Here is couple more. The dash and rollcage are from a Polar Lights Talledega kit. Fits great to the Charger body.
magicmustang Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Well, the MPC release of the Richard Brooks Daytona Charger was close. But it does need some corrections.
yellowsportwagon Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 None of the kits ever had the correct frt bars and dabbed K members that the race cars had.

Still have my copy of SAE from Oct 1990 which has the article on how Doug Whyte converted a MPC Daytona Charger to a NASCAR version. Force Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 (edited) Is this the K-member you are talking about? Here is one from Richard Petty's car. Under the No 71 K&K insurance car or if it was the No 6 Cotton Owens car. Edited March 24, 2019 by Force

Dave Van Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Salvinos JR OLDS 442 recent kit has a good Mopar chassis under it. Leaf springs, torsion bars...just needs a HEMI motor.

The #71 K&K Insurance kit. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/1-sort/mpc-dodge-charger-d/ The #22 Brooks kit https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/nascar/mpc-richard-brooks-/
