Another Baldwin Motion King Cobra

Hey Guys, I wanted to post the pics of my finished Baldwin Motion King Cobra ( That’s 2 in a row that I started and finished! ) After seeing both Dom and Ray’s BAldwin Motion Chevelle and King Cobra I was inspired. I used a set of Patto’s decals for. The King Cobra, as they are white and used the kit decals for the rest. They weren’t in the best shape but look ok. I’m glad I did it, so now I have 2 more for my Baldwin Motion collection. I also used other tires for the front and back which looked better than the kit tires.

I think you nailed it.  Very nice.  Looks like the decals are slighly different (white letters vs. yellow)

Very nice work Steve.  If you don't mind I want to share some history.  Motion Performance built this particular 427 Cobra as well as a 289 Cobra.  Yes it is the same Motion Performance that also did all the hot Chevys for Baldwin Chevrolet.  Revell made a mistake on the box by referring to it as a Baldwin-Motion Cobra.  The designation should be "Motion Performance" Drag Cobra.

"Prior to the launch of Baldwin-Motion specialty cars in mid-1967, Joel Rosen and Jack Geiselman set numerous track, regional and national drag racing records with Motion Performance 289 and 427 Shelby Cobras. The highest-profile Motion-built Cobra is the 427 KING COBRA that brought $525,000 at the 2005 Russo & Steele Auction in Scottsdale, AZ."

Yes, The King Cobra decal is from the Patto’s sheet, which are white.

Love it !  Looks great. I wish I had known about the aftermarket white decals when I built mine. Looks like a fine job. Always happy to see another Cobra.

Thanks! I love the cobras and you don’t see much of the drag cobras. They definitely have their place in automotive history.

Thank you! The blue line slicks and skinny fronts are from the AMT tire/wheel combo packs.

Gotta agree with this.  What gold paint did you use on the top?

Thanks! I settled on Testors pure gold lacquer. I tried using the closest gold looking at pics of the 1:1 car, but it seemed different from one photo to the next, so I just picked what I thought was closest. The black was Tamayi black and automotive clear.
