curt raitz Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) Saw this magazine and really liked the truck on the cover. I wasn't interested in doing a replica build of the truck, but used it as my inspiration. Just happened to have a resin cast "Jimmy Flintstone" '41 Ford COE, but wasn't going to sacrifice the bed from the Revell '37 Ford Pick Up. I used the '38 grill from the kit though. I did have a few '50 Ford pick up beds in in my stash, so used one of these. My buddy Steve loaned me a front-wheel drive transaxle from a kit and I made a mould of it for resin casting. Used the rear IRS from a Corvette donated by another buddy Raul. One of the joys of a Jimmy Flintstone resin body is you have a lot of resin to play with! Using photos and the '38 grill I ground away on the '41 Ford COE until I was happy. Headlights are from a '41 Willy', engine, exhaust, chassis, wheels and tires pulled out of my parts collection. thanks for lookin' Edited April 8, 2019 by curt raitz
espo Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Great looking truck. I like all the chassis and drive train detailing you did.
Goose1957 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Wow, that's cool. Looks like a lot of fun to drive. 1/4 mile burnouts for sure. The modeling is just terrific. Nice color choice. Everything just works. Nice job. Jeff
misterNNL Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Love this build! Very nicely done Curt. Lots of great details everywhere like the "not quite completely down" driver's door window. Thanks for sharing.

Koellefornia Kid Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 When I saw that little COE in that issue of Street Rodder, I instantly thought, it would be a great model project. Obviously I was not the only one... Great build, Curtis!
Mooneyzs Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Curt.... this a such a cool build. Lookong forward to seeing it in person th is weekend!! NIce job!
redneckrigger Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Very nice build. Love the idea of a sawed off little COE with rear engine. That would sure get lots of miles out of the front rubber.............they'd never be touching the ground! Beautiful!
tim boyd Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Curt.....way, wAY, WAY cool! Great idea, and great execution, too. Congrats! TIM
curt raitz Posted April 16, 2019 Author Posted April 16, 2019 Thanx everyone for your comments. The model suffered a little travel damage on the ride home from Desert Scale Classic in Phoenix. Air Horn came loose and lost the drivers wiper blade...nuthin' that can't be fixed. c'ya
