rastta Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Loved to watch this thing in action back in the day. Saw the model online and picked it up. However, pretty disappointed with the kit overall as most of it was pretty ill fitting with warped doors etc. Did my best to replicate the original - although there was many different versions of the car. So I did sort of a compilation of the version I liked best given the parts I had. Painted in Testors Candy Red over Silver Metallic. Probably not the best model to do in candy - but I was pretty happy with the results. Chromed all the chassis pieces.
Tom Geiger Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Yes it is a fiddly old kit! You did a pretty good job on her though! I found it best to glue the doors shut and add correct size non-working hinges to it. Even then, nothing is perfect! Mine with the doors glued shut. Kit working hinges removed and scale hinges were made from round plastic stock.
shoopdog Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Turned out great, especially with the Candy Red.
Hmann68 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Looks great to me! It’s always frustrating to fight a poor fitting kit, but usually worth it!
Gluebomber Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Looks great, Joe. As you said, it's a rough kit and you did a nice job with it. Good Build!
espo Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 This kit does offer some challenges. The paint and trim look great.
Snake45 Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Very, VERY nice! One of the best builds of this kit I've ever seen. Well done and model on!
rastta Posted April 16, 2019 Author Posted April 16, 2019 Thanks for the compliments folks. It was frustrating but in the end pretty rewarding. On to finish the 69 Boss kit you can see peaking out in one of the pics.
olschoolkid Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 I think this is perhaps the nicest build of the Little Red Wagon I've seen. The metallic paint looks great.
Scalper Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Nice and clean build.. that paint so shinny ., nice job
Bainford Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Nice work on the LRW. The paint looks good, and you nailed the colour.
Peter Lombardo Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Very nice, it's one of those kits I keep telling myself to pick up..... you did a very nice job on it.
Plashdaddy Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Looks great! I built one when I was first getting back into modeling lol. I wish it looked like yours!

Keep in mind this kit was designed and originally produced back in the sixties by IMC . And with some patience can be a very nice kit to have on the shelf PS, the very 1st little red wagon was a plain red with white lettering . And was NOT driven by Bill Maverick ( he came into the picture later ) Me personally would love to have the decals to replicate this very truck Edited April 20, 2019 by gtx6970

There were so many variations of the car. It's hard to not to do one variation or another and have it still look good.
the goon Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Very well done. Tried this kit a couple of times years ago; stock, and as the LRW. Might give it another try . Mark
