jaxenro Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 As I am working on some disc wheels for Model T's and want to cast them to fit someone here was kind enough to send me a tire from one of the kits. I also purchased the 1927 Model T Ford kit. What I found is there are at least two different size tires. In the pics below the 1927 T tire is on the left it is a bit harder vinyl than the other and has a ribbed tread as opposed to the tread pattern. It is also a slightly larger diameter but, interestingly enough, uses a slightly smaller wheel. The wheel from the 1927 T kit is just too loose for the other tire. I think (?) that a slightly larger wheel diameter will fit both as the tires stretch slightly but I will see
webestang Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 I'd say the one on the left, the larger tire, looks closer to the Firestones that came on the T when new.
jaxenro Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 I like the one on the left better it is a little sturdier
Spex84 Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 The ones on the right look like AMT '25 T and fit on the wood-spoked wheels from that kit. The ones on the left appear to be AMT '27 Touring tires with wire wheels.
jaxenro Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Yup you are correct on the left and I assume on the other as well
ChrisBcritter Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 The ones on the left were also used in the stock '29 A roadster kit, and also for the wheel on the rear bumper-mounted test device in the '65 Grand Prix.
