Greg Myers Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) Revell may have beat AMT to the draw on the Willys Gasser with their Stone, Woods and Cook kit, but I think AMT got the most mileage out of their investment. Now realize, that's just my opinion. But hey, you got a twofer from AMT, a '40 Willys gasser and a custom '32 Ford sedan that no one else will produce for quite a while. Greg Myers Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) Now here's the deal, AMT is giving you something a little fiddely with that flip front, but any good modeler worth his salt can get that sucker lined up a lot easier than all that thin watch out it'll break stuff Revell is giving you and good luck with those doors. Plus yer gettin a pretty good rendition of a period Blown Olds V8 that will fit right in most of those old Trophy kits with the interchangeable engines, Edited May 3, 2019 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 First up with another version, their Coupe / Pick Up kit
Greg Myers Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Did someone say reissues ? Then they just go to town year after year, like so many model companys, gotta make the bucks.
Rusty92 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Man, I love the Willys kits! I built the Revell kit only, but have a couple of the AMT in the stash.

magicmustang Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) How about a Puller Truck conversion! Always was disappointed with the gap where the hinged hood part met the door fender extension, so I sawed the fender parts off the body and glued them to the hood fenders. A lot of putty and sanding later, I think it looks better. Edited May 3, 2019 by magicmustang
Greg Myers Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Good one. But as you pointed out, a little bit of work required. I've done a flip front on the Monogram '40 Ford Pick Up a few times with that full fender treatment. I found it challenging to get it to clear the body.

ChrisBcritter Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 My only quibble with the AMT Willys is that the body sides/doors are too flat; possibly a molding issue? The Revell SWC got the gently curved shape right, at least (but oy, that hood hinge!).
