mrmike Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 This is my '65 Comet Cyclone painted in Scalefinishes Highland Green Metallic with a Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black interior, dual scoop hood from the Moebius Cyclone Drag Racing kit, AMT pad-printed white letter tires, and lowered front suspension.
espo Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Great looking Comet. Looking at this I just have to get one of these kits also.
Bucky Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 YESSS!!! I DO want a real one that looks like this! Very well done, Mike!!
Dave Darby Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 That is super nice. I really need to get me one of those. Beautiful job.
berr13 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 That looks SO much better dropped in the front some. How did you do it? VERY nice model!!
mrmike Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 Thank you guys! 18 hours ago, berr13 said: That looks SO much better dropped in the front some. How did you do it? VERY nice model!! I inverted the stock kingpins. Guys, this kit is a mixed bag to me. Everything from the interior seats to the wheels and tires and the wheel openings just seem off to me. The bucket seats seem like they came from an old AMT kit and mount directly to the interior floor. The model sits too high, especially in the back. If you really want this kit, spend some time on it and work slowly and carefully and you will have a nice looking model when you are done with it.
Harpo Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Great job on a timeless classic! I remember how snappy these cars felt with even a stock 289 compared to the 6 cylinder, fond memories.
Brutalform Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Turned out very nice. Under hood looks spot on. You really got that ride height nailed down nicely.
mrmike Posted May 13, 2019 Author Posted May 13, 2019 Thank you David, Garry and Tom! In spite of its shortcomings, the car came out just as I wanted it.
Trendsetta68 Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I finally get to see one of these built up ! That turned out great ! Love that green !
mrmike Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 Thank you Trendsetta68! Inspite of the kit's shortcomings, it did build up rather nicely.
