zakdoggi Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 The AMT 1966 Chevy Nova built to represent my favourite Australian Touring Car Champion - "Stormin Norman" Norm Beechey. Added a scratch built roll bar, wheels and tyres pinched from another kit, homemade decals, a rattle can exterior and vinyl paint interior. First pic is the real thing which now sits in a large private collection of historic Australian race cars. 2

zakdoggi Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 Haha! Thanks Greg. My "eyeball engineering" approach must be working then. Cheers..... Geoff
afx Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) Love it! There a several options for number decals if you would like to add them. DMC being but one option. http://www.dmc-decals.dk/41685367 Edited June 5, 2019 by afx
zakdoggi Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Thanks JC, This one's sitting in my display cabinet waiting for the final touches - numbers, brake scoops, chrome touch ups, wheel colour change. I'm sure I'll get to it sooner or later after the workbench clears a bit. Cheers.......Geoff
MrObsessive Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 VERY nice indeed! I've always seen this kit as a MAJOR turning point for AMT. Just about perfect proportions, abundant details and not fiddly to put together in the least as I built one years ago. Still one of AMT's best and one I can see this kit stick around for many years to come.
zakdoggi Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 You're right Bill, a very accurate and easy build. The only issue I found was the front end steering situation. There's no tie rod between the spindles. Which means, if you don't glue the stub axles into the suspension arms, there's no way to set up parallel steering.
