Warren D Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 My take on the movie truck from "Convoy". I started with the AITM resin kit and made some changes. I altered the aircleaner, made new fuel tanks/steps, added the am/fm antenna, added CB antennas, scratch built the mirror brackets, scratch built the air deflector supports. The chrome is a combo of BMF and Molotow liquid chrome. I added clearance lights to the sleeper. Paint is Testor's Aztek gloss black with several coats of Pollyscale clear over. Mudflaps came from Auslowe with kit supplied decals. The photos have dust, forgot to clean it first but black is tough, it shows everything!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 That is one of the best builds of this truck that I've seen! It looks great! I like the Fm antenna! Very nice touch! Great work!!
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Love it. Absolutely fantastic build Is on my wish list to re-do from my childhood as I made the Ertl version long ago and far away Is there still a kit available???

If Dave is out of stock, let him know you want one. Just be aware it's not cheap.....but much better to start with than the old ERTL kit.
Warren D Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 I know the fifth wheel looks too far back, but if you watch the movie, it's almost off the back of the truck. Guess you can do that with a shell trailer in a movie!
disabled modeler Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 WOW..! Very nice work and execution on the replica build. I remember the kit they made many years ago of it was pretty nice.
purepmd Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Martin Penwald would be proud of the is replica of his "beautiful black truck". Quack, quack.
