Got this one finished up too, my replica of my own 1984 Olds Cutlass( aka gutlass) Supreme Brougham, so the kit is the 1985, but close enough, Paint is Olds Royal Light Blue from Scalefinishes. Wheels are from the MG-B kit from Aoshima, I used BMF on the bumpers,heck, I think it would be easier to list what I didnt BMF.  Made changes to the interior, converted it to from bucket to bench seating, removed the center console, added a column shifter , Overall, meh, not really thrilled how it turned out.  Not thrilled with the kit.

Looks great to me, I don't understand why your "not thrilled" with how it turned out. To bad you don't have any pictures of the interior with all the work you did there. You called it "gutless" so I'm guessing you had the world beater 260 cu in V-8.

You've managed to capture the most iconic of 80's luxury coupes perfectly ! Those A/G Bodies from that era were delightful vehicles ; the Oldsmobile was the best . 

What did yours have under its bonnet ? 3.8 litre ? 5.0 litre Olds ? The 100 miles of vacuum lines and a full-complement of emissions equipment drained every last bit of power from those engines ----- but , man , were they smooth and luxurious cars ! 

I still have the first edition of the Revell H/O Cutlass ( 1983 model ? ) and am yet to dive into it . Other than the 80's Monogram Monte Carlo "inspiration" ( e.g. , moulded-in coolant overflow bottle , windscreen washer bottle , and other details ) it appears to be a nice --and truly welcomed-- kit .

Again , great 'Gutlass' !

I think it turned out great and it has a lot in common with the 1:1, the engine makes about the same power....................

My brother had an 88 with the 307 in it and it was the slowest car ever. Made my 90 F150 seem like a performance car/truck.

I think it turned out pretty good, as mentioned above you captured the essence of the mid '80's GM luxury coupes. I love that GM body style and have owned 2 Regals and 2 Monte Carlo SS's. I've owned 2 Cutlass's, but they were "72 and "74.

Your choice of wheels is PERFECT.  They look just like the ever popular wire wheel covers used on Oldsmobiles.  

Hard to imagine that in less than 20 years after this Cutlass, Olds would be gone.  Cutlasses were everywhere.  Eighty-Eights were everywhere.  Ninety-Eights were everywhere.

Yeah, I remember in the 80s when I was in high school they were everywhere...parents driving Cutlasses, 88s and Custom Cruisers,  older people w/ 98s, kids driving handed down Cutlasses and 88s, etc..as common and mainstream as Toyotas are today.

Other than the Regal G.N. / GN-X and , to a lesser-degree , the Monte Carlo SS , the A/G-Specials weren't marketed as performance cars . Yes , the H/O Cutlass was performance-oriented , but... 

Roger Smith did enough damage to G.M. --- a total unenthusiastic individual .

Nice build!  I haven't started but I'm going to build a similar mode,.  My first car was also an ,84 brougham, with a navy interior and vinyl top, but mine was painted an off-white/cream.   

 

Hiwd yiu tackle the vinyl top?  It looks great.

What's not to like? I think it looks great! I remember these VERY well as they were a staple of a LOT of driveways in the '80's. Of course, I'm partial to the '73-'77 Colonnade cars as those were what I learned to drive in (a '77 Cutlass). You built yours pretty much how I'd do this car............stock as stone! :D

One little known (and built) option of the '76-'77 cars was the 260 V8 with a 5 speed (International Series?)

While not a world beater in the least, that was a very interesting option and I can bet survivors are worth something these days. ;)

I agree with the others - this build captures the essence of these cars.  The H/Os are nice but cars like this were the everyday cars for millions.
