Tommy124 Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Hi folks, I finished the Eliminator yesterday. It was a bit of a fight, especially as far as the body color is concerned. I learnt that yellow is one tough color to get a good result in. Here come the images, hope you like it: 1
Modlbldr Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 (edited) Nice looking build. You did a great job on it. I always liked this car. Meant to build the kit a few times over the years. I saw one on a used car lot in Utah in '87. It was also yellow. Wanted to buy it very badly but, me being 18 years old at the time, I didn't have the money they were asking and it probably wouldn't have lasted long. Instead, I bought a yellow 81 Datsun pickup. Koellefornia Kid Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Nice cat, Tommy! I think can hear it purring...
Claude Thibodeau Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Hi! The paint may have fought you... but the gloss is certainly here! Great finish! CT
vamach1 Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 (edited) Very nice kitty. The engine is also great for doing a 1/25 Mustang Boss 302. Edited June 17, 2019 by vamach1
espo Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Beautiful looking Mercury. Not a 1:1 model often seen and even less so in scale. I had a friend who had an XR7 Cougar with the 390 and auto. trans. They were great riding cars.

stevehansen Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 EXCELLENT BUILD!! smooth paint and clean detail
Sledsel Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Looks great!!! Yes, yellow is a bear to paint. I have found that a white primer or flat white base lightly scuffed helps me painting yellow.
randyc Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Looks good. I have a request from a friend to build a convertible Cougar. This is good inspiration to dig it out and get cutting.

Dragonhawk1066 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Looks fantastic!! I'd say you certainly won the fight. I'm having the same problem with yellow on my '71 Hemi Cuda.
