Back in the 1980s I had the TCR Rat Trap racing set.  The set came with a yellow & orange Mustang (#12),

a red, white & blue Pinto (#77)

and a blue & yellow Mustang (#55) jam car.

My favorite car was the Pinto (although I didn't know it was a Pinto back then) because it was wicked fast!  Always good for a race car, and I never realized that these cars were (loosely) based on actual cars.  Fast forward to earlier this year when I saw Chris' (hpiguys) build-up of the MPC Ridge Runner:

I saw that video, and said "That's the TCR car!"  I had to have that kit.  Well, I finished it up earlier today, and I am please with the results.  The fit & detail left a lot to be desired (no brakes, no steering column, no steering box, very soft details in the engine), but in the end it was a quick pleasurable build.  I'm sure there are builders that could build a much more detailed Pinto than I did, but like I said I'm please with the results.  The Ford decal on the rear does not come in that kit; it came from my Decal Collection.

Thanks, guys.  Alex, no, I don't think I'll be building the Vega.  Now, if I could figure out how to do the Mustang.

Not that difficult. Buy another of those Pinto kits. Then buy a Monogram Mustang coupe kit.  A bit of cutting and grinding to mate the two!
