landman Posted August 2, 2019 Author Posted August 2, 2019 It looks like the Duesenberg frame will be a good fit. the engine will be easy to locate properly.
landman Posted August 2, 2019 Author Posted August 2, 2019 T'was a nice day. So i worked on the Packard's engine in the "other" shop.
Eric Macleod Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 So this is going to be a Packardberg? I like where you are going. It has the looooong lines of the Packard 745. Nice.

landman Posted August 3, 2019 Author Posted August 3, 2019 Looks like the front axle is in the right location. Marked the rear one accordingly. I will attempt to match the drip moldings using wire.
gotnitro? Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Very nice work Pat Always fascinating watching how multiple kits can be sourced to make one project possible

Sometimes I paint myself into a corner.

landman Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 The engine is ready. Sorry about the bad photos.
David G. Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 An excellent example of kitbashing! I admire your styrene surgical skills. David G.
misterNNL Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 You can always list this as being a coach built custom body by St.Martin.

landman Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Thew rear axle is located and one end lengthened to match. Everything appears to line up. Working on the drip molding extensions.
landman Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 More work on the window reveals. Hopefully, with a bit of putty and a blurry lens they'll look the part.
landman Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 I had hoped to hide the seam in the running boards with a decorative plate but it is too small, so I'll likely replace the running boards themselves.Had to notch the frame to clear the down draft carb.
Eric Macleod Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 A lot of cars of the late 20s had a simple linoleum running board covering trimmed in either aluminum or chrome. That would be a simple, elegant and correct solution.
landman Posted August 23, 2019 Author Posted August 23, 2019 Performed the runningboardectomy. Found some that might fit with a bit of filing. And, of course, we are not discounting Eric's suggestion. I suppose that would be brown or gray battleship linoleum.
landman Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Found a pair of wind wings that looked like they might make. a nice vent window. After trimming them I decided to make some with a vertical trailing edge, I think it is classier.
landman Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Gave it a shot of primer to highlight the details that are there and the ones that are missing. In real life, this would be a large vehicle. I think it has the potential of looking classy.
Eric Macleod Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Potential? Shoot, it looks classy now! I like your windshield treatment. There's not a bad line on it. I look forward to seeing the next installment.
landman Posted August 31, 2019 Author Posted August 31, 2019 Dechromed the hood vent doors. This car will have minimum bling.
