michelle Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 i decided to make this the late seasons version after the season car wash episode which reveiled al's dodge was red and had turned brown due to caked on mud dirt and dust over the years and when it went through the carwas it was now red. the production forgot to have the trunk hinges bottom of trunk lid and inner trunk walls repainted to match the red on the outside so when al opened the trunk at the end you could see the original copper/bown color it was, i did not decide to open the trunk so i figured they made the same mistake with the engine bay as they did with the trunk so thats why it does not match the body color. i used some trim decals from my decal box for the side body trim i made the vinyle portion of the roof from faux leather material from a old pair of jeggings and cut it to fit. i used a piece of wire to make the chrome tack down strip for the rear part of the vinyl top i made it look like it was comming apart and some of it was being held to the car with duck tape and some had been ripped or wore away along the rear chrome tack down strip. i took some bumperettes from another bumper can cut and sanded them to fit the front bumper from this model, i used a peice of red fabric from a old ripped shirt for the red hanky stuffed in the fuel fill hole since the cap is missing. i used oil/gresse weathering liquid and drybrused some rust all over the engine and engine bay also to make it look gunky and not very well maintianed i added a scratch made screw driver on the center consule that al uses as a ignition key. i had the licence plates made when i had the rest of my other rebuilders decals made and the rims/tires are 3d printed they were as close to the wheels on the actual car as i could find i put the white wall decals on the tires except one which i did so it looked like al got a a new tire but he could not get a white wall to match the other 3.
'70 Grande Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Your work and extra-efforts on this build are outstanding! The weathering inside that engine compartment is very well done; nice job!
'70 Grande Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I'm curious about the 3D printed tires on this build; did you print them from your own 3D printer? Did you create the 3D-rendering-print file that they were printed from or did you source that print file elsewhere?
vamach1 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Very creative and well done. ROTFL at the rag for a gas cap.
