TooOld Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 (edited) Revell GmbH reissued this kit a couple of months ago and I wanted to build it for the 50th Anniversary , strangely Revell USA is reissuing it in September . Assembly is fairly straight forward , although the legs of the Lunar Module are a bit tricky . Very little painting on The Lunar Module except for a spray coat of aluminum , but lots and lots of foil . I used Chrome , Black , and Gold foil . . . enough for dozens of cars ! Here's a few more photos of the finished model , hope you like it ! Here's a shot without the "Moon" light . Edited July 18, 2019 by TooOld
Rob Hall Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Odd they didn't release it in the US for July. Looks like a neat kit.
SfanGoch Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 That looks fabulous, Ray. Very well done. I built this kit right after the landing and agin in fifth grade as a member of an after-school science club. There are 3D printed detail parts for Apollo spacecraft of various scales available at Shapeways: Space Models by Vincent Meens A05 To 11-FUD-MS Interior F10-Panels 8-11 Lunar Module Ascent Stage - Fine Detail Plastic
Jim N Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Very cool! Great job. The foil makes all of the difference.

bbowser Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Wow! Outstanding model of a truly epic event. I often think about my grandparents going from horse & buggy transport to seeing men on the moon in one lifetime, makes one think.

Tom Geiger Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Here’s my contribution for the day! The “Moon Landing” postmark slug went to the moon with the mission. Just a page from my stamp collection.

peteski Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 (edited) Great diorama! Lighting and backdrop too! Funny how Monogram molded the shadows into the base. How did you model the gold tint on the helmet visors? Edited July 22, 2019 by peteski
