This model usually comes as a two year assembly subscription with something arriving every week or so, but recently they also offer it as a complete kit all at once (delivered by DHL in 5 large cardboard boxes)

The painted kit is usually considerably over $1,000 but there was a super sale on this item during July 4th and my brother and I decided to share the effort, and we pulled the trigger.

The kit goes together very nicely using the original 100 magazines as incremental instructions, but the wire wheels (fabulously accurate looking) took a whole tedious day each.

Anyhow, we've completed the build, and must admit, the finished model looks quite real.  It goes together with an electrical system for all the lights ,etc. but I have yet to find and install the correct batteries to check that detail out.

DeAgostini keeps tempting me with sending be ads about this car. Since I bought their kit of the 1/8 '67 Shelby, they won't leave me alone!

This is REALLY a beautiful model and very well done and as I already have the 1/8 Monogram kit, this will be a tough choice. This is worlds better than the Monogram one, but I right now I'm not sure I want to drag out paying for this for two years, while the Shelby is languishing at the moment.

So many models and not enough hours in the day!

Truly a beautiful model and I've never seen such realistic wires in a kit of any kind.

I wholeheartedly agree! This is what's killing me to go ahead and spring for it! VERY nicely done wires, and besides the 1/12 MFH kits I have, one of the best I've ever seen in this scale!

That is an absolutely gorgeous model!   The wire wheels are spectacular with the accurately cross-laced spokes!

What about the batteries for the electrical circuit?  What size does it need?

Beautiful!  I haven't seen one of hte DeAgositini models finished, so this is a nice point of reference.   Feel free to share more photos if you want.  I'd love to see more of it.

Here are a few more pics, including a few detail close-ups. Notice that the quarter-windows (rear, side) hinge open with realistic over-center latches, and the seats are stitched leather over foam pads.

That is beautiful.

I do have a question, Clifford: it looks like the right front tire is different than the others. Is that supposed to be the spare? Don't tell me you already had a flat??? :)

Good observaition.  It would be odd the spare would be different but for a real car not that surprising.  It is a beautiful build and kit.  I did think it was black until I saw the close ups.

Bill, you're absolutely correct. I guess I was so eager to get the wheels on the car after about eight long days of assembly, that I never even noticed the tire difference. The construction pictures of the wheel /tire assembly looked so similar that I didn't even read the text.

I can only imagine that the full size car they measured for the model development had a different style of spare tire and they went with that.

Thanks for pointing that out....the wheels have now been shuffled to be correct (see pics)

Thanks for the answer. That’s so weird in so many ways. I think the 4 tires are racier looking than the spare...that spare one looks kind of “Trucky”.

Beautiful build of a beautiful car, in any case!

Absolutely wonderful, Clifford....... marvellous kit and clearly a challenging build. Even considering the large amount of money involved, this big scale model motor car has to be worth every penny / cent....... it is so real to look at, and that dark green colour is beautiful...... certainly appears to be black until you get close up.
