Claude Thibodeau Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 WoW! You made the most of a basically simplified promo-type assembly. Masterful. Bravo! CT
Bucky Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 All the words I could have used here have already been used! I'll add that I think this is a TOP SHELF build of an almost timeless body design. I have a couple AMT '67 kits, and a '68, plus a Jo-Han '70 Toronado kit. I hope to start the '68 soon, as that year is my favorite Toronado.
echo Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 This is one of the nicest models I've seen recently, quite a model, excellent work !
bisc63 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 You really did this car a justice; beautiful, clean build of one of GM's most handsome automobiles. We need a new-tool first generation Toronado. YOU HEAR ME, MOEBIUS?!
yura1961 Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Thank you,guys! I appreciate your comments!!!
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Absolutely perfect as I would expect from you Yuri! We really need some outdoor shots of this one though. That's where your builds cease to be a model and immediately become the real car!! Steve
robertw Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Looks like a near perfect restoration and the photography is perfect. In particular I like the shots taken on glass. This presentation is as good as it gets.
Hooked on Chaparral Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 STUNNING!!!! that is the only verbage coming to mind right now for me, and descrition wise typing!!
charlie8575 Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Excellent, excellent build. The only thing I caught....the engine should be gold, the transmission unfinished aluminum. Your photography, as always is exemplary. I have an unbuilt '66 I plan to build soon, in Dubonnet. Charlie Larkin
RestoModGuy Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 As always, perfection! When I see your post, I'm so impressed with your craftsmanship quality to detail with every build you craft. I have to ask, where are the windshield wipers from? I imagine PE, I've never seen those like yours, so high in detail.

Can-Con Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 6 hours ago, yura1961 said: I have not seen gold. You are correct on this Yuri. Toronado engines were usually light blue metallic. Other Olds engines at that time could have also been gold. bronze or red the Toro engines were only light blue.

This past weekend, I ran into a mostly-original '66 Toro at a car show, and, much to my surprise, the engine was a shade very close to Pontiac's metallic blue. Turns out the gold engines were in the other lines (F-85, 88 and 98.) Charlie Larkin

Pontiac's metallic blue is much closer. Also, I don't think that bright blue showed up until around 1968. Charlie Larkin
disabled modeler Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Just beautiful....! I have the same one to restore someday. Id like to find a 72 promo or model to have a replica of my first real car for my collection someday.
