Dave B Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I was a happy little vegemite when Tamiya re-released their 60's slot car bodies here a few years back. Bought one of each and have just finished the "King Cobra". Although the 'number plate' that comes with it calls it a Ghia - De Tomaso Sports 5000 it is actually a more accurate take on the Peter Brock designed P70. All I had to do was fill in the rear wheel wells and alter the dashboard and fit exhaust pipes to make it a passable model. Scratch built the interior, made the wheels by using the slot car inserts and resin wheel backs, added aluminium tube exhaust pipes and made the rectangular headlights. Should have bought two then I could have also had a S5000!! Anyway, a nice addition to my 'different' 60's sports racers although I am not aware of it actually competing anywhere hence no race numbers! Just waiting on my mate to do the De Tomaso nose decal for me. Tks for looking. Dave B
Silver Foxx Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Another one of your top class builds , real nice work .
rsxse240 Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 That's something from the old speed racer cartoons. Looks amazing! I never knew Shelby and DeTomaso did a project.
Peter Lombardo Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Not a car we see very often... really well done. Very unique and super clean. NICE!
Dave B Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 This guy's, nice to build something a little different. Dave B
