Modlbldr Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) I got this panel van from Scott8950 a few months back and I'm finally getting around to doing something with it. I stripped it, primed it and painted the top side panel in Wimbledon White. The tires are the rears from the 39 Wagonrod or the Prowler with the fronts narrowed a bit over 1/16 inch. Right now I am in the very early stages with not much going in the way of plans. So, stay tuned. Later- Edited August 19, 2019 by Modlbldr
Dennis Lacy Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Nice start. Good stance. Ever think of moving the front fender wheel arches forward? It really fixes the look of these trucks and it’s not hard to do. See my ‘53 Pickup project right below yours. ?
Modlbldr Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 I hadn't thought of doing it on this one but I did do it on the old Strohsmobile 55 pickup years ago. You're right. Easy to do and looks much better. I'm still in the early stages so now would be the time. Thanks. Later-
gotnitro? Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Love the look you have going , looking forward to updates
Modlbldr Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 Thanks for the interest. I got some paint on it today. I decided not to move the front fender wells forward. I wanted to do a kind of quick build on this one so I chose to forgo it. I am off work tomorrow so this will have a bit of time to dry before I sand some garbage out of the paint and shoot a final coat on Thursday. The color is Testors Hemi Orange.I took a couple of shots with the wheels mocked up. The wheels will have older Ford caps to top them off and possibly valve stems. Later-
Modlbldr Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) The wheels on this are an idea that I have had kicking around for quite a few months and it is one of those deals that you never know where you will find something to use on a build if you use your imagination. One morning I was getting ready for work at 4 AM and I dropped my deodorant. When it hit the floor, out of the bottom popped this white cap that is stuffed up into the bottom of the wheel you turn to raise the deodorant stick.. I picked it up and as soon as I saw it I thought "That would make a perfect large diameter steel wheel." My idea is to paint them the accent color, put valve stems and put 29 Ford or old style Ford poverty caps in the center. Now I just need to stop tomorrow and buy two more sticks of deodorant. Ought to be able to smell me coming. Later- Edited August 22, 2019 by Modlbldr
espo Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Great idea for the wheels, and that way the model will not smell bad either. What the heck is Bearglove anyway ?
Modlbldr Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Good question. I have no idea is my best answer. At least it's not called bear scat! Later- Edited August 22, 2019 by Modlbldr
Scott8950 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Wow absolutely amazing transformation! I can't wait to see this finished!
Modlbldr Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 Thanks Scott. So, no new progress on this for the time being but managed to get the panels repainted and tape removed. I have some Harley decals coming. Once I get a free afternoon I'll clean it up and clearcoat. Later-
