Plowboy Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Anyone know of a kit (besides NASCAR) that has a good 1/25 scale 351C? I want one that is close to stock or stock. I'm not concerned about the transmission behind it. It would be nice if it came with an automatic. But, not necessary. I've went through about every Ford kit I have and have came up empty. TIA.
Rodent Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Revellogram 70 Mach 1 or the combo Mach 1 / Boss 302 kit.
Kris Morgan Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Check with Jeff at Motor City Resin Casters.
mk11 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 The amt '78 bronco has a 351M, which is very similar in appearance; same valve covers etc.

Motor City Resin casters #2. Mustang II kits from 75-78 #3. Scale Modeling by Chris (no longer available) #3. Be really nice to me ? So I've attached some photo's to get an idea of what is/was out there. The picture with all those Ford engines includes some 351W, 351C and 429 CJ and some Boss 302s. In the close ups you will see what stands out as immediately being recognized as a Cleveland. The first is the upper radiator hose inlet/thermostat housing that is flat or straight down if you're a 3D person. The second of course is the valve covers which look similar to the Boss 302 but were of course not chromed or the fancy finned ones like on Boss 302 and 351's - just plain old Ford blue and the water pump. Transmissions were either an FMX, C6 or 4 Speed. If you noticed the Danbury Mint Boss 351 you're on the ball. Anyone that would take it apart (scale it down) and make 3D copies (think Pantera too) would be my hero. I'd throw in the Ram-Air air cleaner to complete the package. Hit me up with any questions like WTH is that pink engine or where did you get those valve covers and stuff like that. If you're wondering I did not mention the Revell Mach1 1/24 engine as the poster specified 1/25 but it's worth mentioning that it would have been nice to have some STOCK valve covers in that kit. vamach1 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Here are some close ups of the DM Boss 351. She's a beauty. Like a typical diecast, some details (that cannot be seen) are omitted (Carb and some of the transmission) but man what a killer casting. So, if anyone wants to discuss making a 3D mold ping me. The engine would have to be carefully taken apart and preferable downsized to 1/25 scale since the AMT and MPC kits are that scale. The Japanese kits are 1/24 but do not have opening hoods. As for all those other parts surrounding the engine, contact Kevin @ Missing Link - he's made casting of many of them.
Plowboy Posted August 25, 2019 Author Posted August 25, 2019 Thanx for the info guys! Does or doesn't the Foose '56 Ford have a Cleveland engine? Is it the same as a NASCAR engine? I know it's a Roush built engine.

I'm not positive about if all or some had Cleveland heads bur suffice it to say they were race engines and would only resemble a factory engine. I think the Motor City one is your best bet for a stock engine.
Mark Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 The Revell Foose pickup kit has an FE series engine, not a Cleveland.
