mariojr Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Trying to find something budget friendly either being rattle can or automotive paint.
John Pol Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I been using TAMCO 2k clear but I have airbrush and this is the best clear I have used so far
Miatatom Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Tamiya TS-13 or sometimes Modelmaster clears.

DPNM Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I typically spray DupliColor paint (rattle can or airbrushed) or fingernail polish. I use DupliColor clear on both.
Dave G. Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Depends what I'm clearing, you didn't specify that.

dmthamade Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Tamiya X-22 thinned with Mr Color thinner or Mr Color leveling thinner. Next would be Tamiya TS-13. All this might change doing glossy schemes. Don
SCRWDRVR Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Mostly Dupli-color clear and color these days... i have used Krylon recently to get a color I wanted...

misterNNL Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 I use a 40 % off coupon to buy my Testors Wet Look clear at HL. Still over priced but this helps a little.
hedotwo Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Tamiya TS13 or Testors Wet Look for gloss. Krylon Colormaster Satin for satin clear. Testors Dullcote for dead flat clear.
Trendsetta68 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 HOK 2k clear 4 me ... airbrushed... same can and hardener for years...
Deathgoblin Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Duplicolor clear for me too. Easy to get and work with.
Tom Geiger Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Testors Dullcote! Yea, I'm really not a shiny guy! When I do a shiny paint job, in most cases the paint itself gives off what I call the proper "in scale shine". In real life cars are not mirror shiny unless they are show cars. The only times I will use a clear coat is when the color coat requires one, as I do use a lot of Duplicolor automotive paint. For instance my recent 1950 Ford Jitney bus used a Duplicolor red that dried flat, as it was a two part color on the 1:1 car. In that case I used Tamiya TS13 which comes out perfect every time!
