Flea Market Rescue: 1994 Corvette Promo

Spotted this sad looking ’94 Vette promo at a local flea market and scored it for $9. It was absolutely filthy and the windshield frame was broken on the left side—right through the mirror, if you can believe it! (You’d think that would be the strongest place, but I guess not.)

Disassembled it and cleaned it up, and the body turned out to be in pretty decent shape, and didn’t take much polishing at all to look great. The windshield was moderately scratched up on the inside (!) but the outside was nearly pristine—I can’t even begin to imagine how that happened.

I liquid-cemented the windshield frame back together, then sanded and polished the join so smoothly that if I didn’t tell you it was there, you’d never see it. I rattlecanned the windshield frame and interior in semigloss black (a ’94 Vette black interior turns out to have virtually no highlights or details to worry about), did my standard detailing on wheels, tires, grille, side marker and taillights and so forth. It doesn’t look half bad for $9 and a few hours work. Sorry I didn’t bother to take a BEFORE pic, so just imagine it all blue, dirty, and with the windshield frame broken on the left side.
