Replicas and Miniatures

Recommended Posts

Check out the R&M users Group on Facebook.   There are some links to Fotki pages that show items and some price lists.  Norman is 69 and he can be reached by landline, email or snail mail - he never had a website and never will.

70-something? Unfortunately, time marches on.  I'm dreading the day Norm decides to retire - just like with Modelhaus, we will loose a superb craftsman, and all of his excellent resin castings.

I was off a little on his age.  Hopefully when he does retire someone younger will take over his business.  He has done quite well for a small cottage business.

Thanks for the info everyone.... much appreciated.

I saw a few things that was done by him, like fuel pumps, and engine parts, and the stuff looked fantastic. If I remember correctly, Marcos Cruz did a YouTube video of their stuff at a model show.

I don’t have a FB account, but I’ll get on the wife’s FB and look it up.

Ok, but either way, he might just get tired of casting all those parts - he's been doing this for decades.  As far as the business being taken over, even if he finds someone, I'll be really surprised if they are as fastidious as Norm is.  Which means the quality will suffer.  Yes, I might sound negative, but IMO, I'm just being a realist.

But on the bright side, 3D printing is really advancing, and there are plenty of computer whizzes who can whip out superb 3D designs with ease, so we might have a replacement for fine craftsmen casters like Don H. and Norm V.

There are 3 fotki pages that show some of his offerings, Some of those are not available any more, Norm told me he has discontinued the bodies and 32 ford frames due to worn molds. Order his latest price sheet it will have his current items plus some new ones not on the fotki pages.

The fotki pages were put up by some of his customers and are greatly appreciated.

He is one of the finest gentlemen this hobby has and is great to deal with. You can rest assured what ever you order from him will be top notch and worth the money.

Yes, while I don't do a lot of business with Norm, I have done so in person and over the phone and he is great to do business with.

One of those albums is mine, and this is exactly why I created it in the first place.

And thank you Jon for sharing the latest price list.

Norm has no website because as it is, he works very hard to keep up with the demand!  A website would only put him further behind!

As said, Norm and Holthaus are the cut from the same cloth. Half the formula is quality products and the other half is their integrity.

Norm stopped vending at NNL East because he said he was behind on orders and it wouldn't be fair to those waiting to service new customers ahead of them!

Old fashioned customer service. I like that.

In looking over his newest price sheet I am concerned that a few items that were in his old catalog might not be available any more. I will be calling Norm tomorrow to find out for sure.

He cast a special part (72 Mustang hood) for me about 20 years ago.  I wanted some more recently and he still had the mold and made me more.  Just because it's not listed does not mean he does not have it anymore.

My current build is Track Nose Model A, The engine is entirely Norms stuff. Flathead, Scot Blower, Ardun Heads, headers for the Ardun heads, Magneto with the "Crab" style dist., a pair of Stromberg  97's with a finned air cleaner. The interior has his seats and door handles. Used his Artillery wheels and tires and his fuel cap and his 39 Ford tail lights.

Maybe I should call it "Norms A"
