Great work on a terrific project. Word of caution on the red rear liners: I do not believe they ever existed as a factory installed part on an Olds W machine. Aftermarket snap in liner; maybe. Factory made/installed; gonna call foul on that.

This article right here tells me they were factory installed.

Thank you Keith, for saving me from having to go back to find that article! :P

I'm not changing it again!

Are you going to make a working tilt column for the steering wheel??? just askin'   LOL

Nope, that would be too "high end".

This car is going to be pretty bare bones with only power steering as an option.

No power brakes or power windows, and certainly no tilt. :D

This is absolutely stunning work!  Impressive level of detail & scratch building.  Amazing!

I knew about the 442 having red plastic front inner fenders, but not the rear inner fenders.  The things you learn on this board.

I just discovered this thread and spent the last hour reading and enjoying.

What can I say that hasn't already been said?

Your work is simply amazing on every level.

Thanks so much guys!

I appreciate the kind comments!

While I'm still working on some interior details and some chassis and suspension refinements and adjustments, I did manage to find a little time to add some valve stems, wheel weights and the hubcaps to the wheels.

Since the beginning of this project, I've been mulling over what I wanted to do with the hood hinge configuration.

Since the torsion spring experiment turned out successful on my '65 Fury project, I thought it would be nice if I could scratch some hood hinges that would work as closely to the 1:1 as possible.

So far I believe that I may be on the right track.

This is the mock-up that I have come up with so far.

There's details coming in this build that I've never seen before. Those hood hinges are superb. No more need to lift the hood aside while the model is on the show room table.

I'm liking those hinges.  More info please.

What are the pins?

Just pressed into the back block or held on the other side?

Thanks guys!

The hinge above is merely a mock-up.

I am working now on much more refined parts.

The pins used above are pieces of thin plastic rod turned into a pin by a little heat to "mushroom" the head on the front side, and "heat swaged" on the back side.

Just taking a break from the bench for a while, but here's where I am currently with the "hopefully" finished parts.

I'm just flying by the seat of my pants here! ^_^
