kpnuts Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 Hi all well I just couldn't stand looking at those sloping shrouds any more.
David G. Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Brilliant work on this! It's a shame about spilling the tray of bits, were you able to recover them all? I guess it may be difficult to know for certain until you near completion. Thank you for continuing to share your progress. David G. Â
kpnuts Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 OK so she's back on the bench first thing is to get rid of 18 months of dust It was a lot harder than you might think Next problem knowing where I left off.
kpnuts Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 Started on the next spar (I forgot how detailed these are) (Not finished yet) Â
Bronzekeg Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 ship modeling is a commitment and a passion, looking great. from one ship modeler to another.
Bugatti Fan Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Nice build.  The Cutty Sark, a stalwart for ship modellers. Plenty of plastic and wooden kits available and plenty of books and references including the ship itself at Greenwich. To anyone contemplating building a model of the ship, the very best set of plans available are the George Campbell drawings available from the Cutty Sark Trust.
kpnuts Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 Hi all the next spar has all the block and tackle added. Â And the sail Added the spar and sail Don't know why I left off here but I didn't finish the paneling when I shelved this.
cobraman Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 That is a good looking ship. Couple years ago or so I was on a wood boat/ship kits. They are tough. As I recall I believe you gave me some great tips to help me get through them. The toughest wood kit, well of any kit has got to be the kit of the old Russian submarine I built. I never thought I would get through it.
kpnuts Posted March 6, 2022 Author Posted March 6, 2022 More work on this one, did some more to the sails rigging and made a start on the rear boats station. The supports for the rear boat station are too short (we'll in fact the first one is too short as the ship is wider there so I had to widen the gunwale to accommodate it.
kpnuts Posted March 20, 2022 Author Posted March 20, 2022 Hi all I promise I've not given up on this, that ships boat I can only do one plank a day as I have to wait for the glue to dry. I've added the panel ornamentation panels to the gunwhales.
Bugatti Fan Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Looks huge Ken. How long is it, and what is the kit like? Certainly looks like you are doing a really good build of this particular subject! Worth buying a dedicated display case for it when finished.
