Don Sikora II Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Wow, don't ever remember seeing that kit before!
Daddyfink Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Oh wow! Another weirdo kit I thought I would never see or own! Thanks for the heads up!
Chris in Berwyn Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I wouldn’t want to try to steer that in real life!
ChrisBcritter Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 (edited) Because the '64 Cutlass needs too much work. Edited December 14, 2019 by ChrisBcritter
Casey Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 IIRC, this kit shares some of it's basic parts with the Royal Rail, which Round2 reissued in 2009, so maybe those finally sold out. I don't think the Royal Rails sold well, as it was on clearance at the Auto World store for $10 for a while, but maybe there's more demand for the Lil Gypsy Wagon. ?♂️
stavanzer Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 So, I wonder if the Hemi Howler will be next? http://www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/hemi_howler.html

Now I can appreciate it for what it is. Not that I personally would buy one.

I agree, a complete waste of plastic! I can't believe that AMT can't find anything better to reissue than this goofy thing, and with a $36 price tag!
paul alflen Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Just remember guys, if it doesn't sell well then there will be an Ollie's dump or a sale at Autoworld. I'll wait to buy them then. John G, please spend the money to do the 1964 Cutlass. The hanger shot has everything there for the awb car. Just no stock body. You have to retool a new bodymold. I'll send you one to reverse engineer. Do the awb car first ,then the convertible, then a hardtop. Then do new chrome for a 1965, with interior also. Amortise the cost over 4 releases = profit???
Tom Geiger Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 How do you guys know what's going on inside of Round 2? Maybe the run is presold kits? Wouldn't be the first time!
niteowl7710 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Well it's free money to some extent. I know, I know Round2 had to buy the tooling blah_blah_blah, but if they haven't recouped that investment in a dozen years, it's very likely they never will. Also maybe they got strong pre-orders on that MPC Ed Roth Mailbox Trike, which opens the possibility to any "Show Rod" style cycle. One things for certain, I'm not sure how any of you older folks are still here because that was some OUTSTANDING drugs these guys were on back then. ?
Daddyfink Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I love that these kind of posts bring out all the serious modelers!

It's so easy to sit back and tell them what they need to do. If any one wants to prove R2 wrong and has the cash, the design guys, injection machines are waiting for you. Keep in mind the licensing, approvals, delays and paychecks that are cut LONG before a single kit is made. Edited December 17, 2019 by Dave Van

Keep in mind the licensing, approvals, delays and paychecks that are cut LONG before a single kit is made. I couldn't have said it better myself Dave. It's the me first syndrome, I don't care what you like cause I don't like. I had the Cutlass back when I was a kid, it was an alright kit but it was nothing to write home about. If it was to make a comeback I would probably buy one, but being selfish and shooting down what others want and have been waiting for isn't right. I'll buy a Gypsy Wagon when it comes out, maybe two. I'm sure there are some that thinks the Cutlass is a waste. You people better be glad what we are getting, and support R2. I like seeing kits that have not seen the light of day for decades. When the company's do come out with a NEW kit there is nothing but complaining. The windows are wrong, the fender lip is to big on and on. Wake up it's a TOY a MODEL CAR, your isn't any worse than the person that bought the same kit. Your a builder aren't you, fix what is wrong or shut up. Model car building is a hobby, not a life or death situation. You don't like what we are getting and could do a better job, the banks make loans everyday. RichCostello Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 I'm really sorry I voiced my opinion, I know nobody else here ever does that, and I promise that I'll NERVER do it again.
DukeE Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Same old show rod pile on. Go on over to Trekkie/Sci-Fi board and try same. Opinions are fine. I don't like it much either, but it's money to run/fix/tool other stuff. Predictable anyway. I guess I've not seen people dump on drag/semi/Euro threads like this, but OK. Show rod, Kustoms, rat rods, and stance cars, open season. Really only board I've been on that does this. 'Murica. Intolerance. Xenophobia. LOL. If y'all feel like dissing outside a keyboard, go to a biker bar and say HD's suck. They won't discuss tolerance much. You guys are hysterical. Happy Holidays (geez that'll probably get responses too ?) PS Bob, I LOL'd about Coke decals. Edited December 18, 2019 by DukeE coke
