lghtngyello03 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) Had a pretty busy year not at the work bench, lol. I did get my 03 Evo back together on the fresh motor and turbo setup which occupied a good bit of my warm weather time this year. Not to shabby, 652hp on e85 @ 35psi and 512hp on 93oct @ 28psi. Just a 2.0L and turns 8700rpm. ? Anywho, this only left me with time to get 2 cars built this year, and a 3rd one almost completed but we had to leave for a Christmas trip to see my wife’s family out of state. First build completed in 2019 is a Tamiya Nissan Skyline R34 Nismo Z-Tune. I did a lot of research on this car to try to make it as close to the 1:1 as possible including all of the carbon decals to make the floor pans carbon like on the 1:1. The second completed build of 2019 Was a Tamiya Evo 6 with a Hobby Design TME Conversion kit. This one tested my patiences and required a full stripping of the junk Zero Paints and then the Hobby Design parts fit pretty ill. But the end result was great. The Pennzoil Skyline is my incomplete build of the year and will be finished as soon as we get back in January, lol. I’ve also included a couple pics of my evo as well as a dyno chart and a video. Not bad for a 4 cylinder right? FullSizeRender.mov Edited December 21, 2019 by lghtngyello03

LL3 Model Worx Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Very nice builds... And that Evo is on how many PSI? Gotta be a few for them kinda pony's at the wheels... That the 2.0? I'm not super familiar with the Mitsubishi stuff.

Yes, it is a 2.0L, Buschur Racing bottom end, should be good for anything I ever decide to throw it’s way. I could probably up my turbo to something a touch bigger and make 750hp easy, but...where on the street would I use that? Lol. 650 is very streetable surprisingly, until you mash the skinny pedal and it spins all 4 tires ?

I'm glad to see you have a quality rotating assembly and more importantly a quality builders work in there... heck I've seen 20k worth of motor not withstand 700hp and I've seen 5k worth of motor take over a 1400hp... the builder can make all the difference sometimes. Cool ride! And be as safe as possible in it! As we both know far too many of us go to glory too soon over far too little. I live right at the US129 "the dragon" and see far too many folks go too soon.
David G. Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Awesome detailing! It would take me a year to build just one like that. David G.

My buddies keep trying to get me to go on the bike, but I’m not interested lol. And you’re right...I’ve had some $2-3k builds that’s out performed $15k builds. It’s all in the build...I’ve got way too much invested in the Evo though, I wanted to make sure it lasted. Stay safe. Edited December 22, 2019 by lghtngyello03

bbowser Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 If your engine work is as neat and detailed as your models you should have no problems! Really nice work.

BeakDoc Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Another case of quality over quantity. Beautiful work!

Nitrobarry Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 I`m not normally an import kind of guy, but your work is absolutely beautiful. I often tell my son these cars are this generation`s 57 Chevy and there`s nothing wrong with that! Impressive power too!
Tommy124 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Very nice builds, especially like the Skyline!
Dann Tier Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 What a Stunning year, Bud!!!.....i have two younger brothers who race Subarus.
89AKurt Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Stellar builds! You do really clean work, love the oil cooler. Favorite subjects too, especially the Evo. I've worked a few rallies, they always dominate if the driver is worth his salt. Keep the shiny side up!

It’s always nice to get recognized and respect from domestic car guys. I love all cars. If it’s clean and makes power, It gets respect in my book. I grew up in a domestic car and muscle car house, but my dad grew towards the turbo charged Mitsubishi platforms when I was about 8 or 9, and we’ve stuck with them since. I enjoy making more power than most v8 cars that are modified with something that has 4 less cylinders. 11 hours ago, Tommy124 said: Very nice builds, especially like the Skyline! Thank you. The Subies can be a force to reckoned with as well. Do they auto cross, rally, or drag? 3 hours ago, 89AKurt said: Stellar builds! You do really clean work, love the oil cooler. They do tracks, timed runs, and rally....they swap suspension, and other things out for whatever they need.
