Cpt Tuttle Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I have wanted to build this Prelude kit now for a while, but I couldn't decide on the wheels. But when I found some Leon Hardiritt Bügel wheels, I thought they could work on a Prelude. It seems like that indeed, I must say that I am impressed how big wheels it seems like the Prelude can handle without looking goofy. Probably will be a quick build more or less out of the box. Typical japanese curbside, not lots of parts really. Fujimi can be hit and miss sometimes, but this one seems to be good, it looks like a Prelude and the body is a nice cast, no sink marks and very few cast lines (what do you call those?).
afx Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Always liked this era Prelude, I'll be following.

Yep, agree those wheels will work and look great. Thats whats most enjoyable about Japanese curbsides, quick simple builds that are great for maintaining skills and having a break between the full detail builds. Another following. VanSpence Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 This is a great looking kit and I have one in my want list on Hobby Search. Love the fact that it actually has full on 4 wheel steering but you may have some difficulty using the 4WS with those monster wheels. They do look awesome tho, no question. I will be following your progress for certain.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Originally, I was thinking about painting it a blue metallic, but I didn't have any paint for that. What I had, though, was candy blue so I thought why not? So I laid a silver base and.....hey, I realized that it would probably not look better in any other colour than silver anyway, so silver it is. I am not a huge fan of silver on cars but in this case it looks amazing IMO.
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 I have always thought that a bright red interior goes well together with silver paint, I know that not everyone agrees but as you can see, red it is.... Windows glued in and window trim painted. I like wood steering wheels too, so it seemed like an obvious choice in this one.
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 Just a little mockup. Seems like the colour combo and the wheels will look better than I ever thought that it would. Sure, the wheels could have been a tad smaller but now it is like it is, at least they still does work IMO.
stitchdup Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Cool, it looks like something you'd see at tokyo auto salon (starts next week and moon do some of the best coverage of it)
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 I have to look "Tokyo auto salon" up then.
stitchdup Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Its a great show, has every style of cars from hot rods to tuned honda scooters with everything in between. Speedhunters will be covering it too but moon Japanese website show everything thats there in their coverage
Cool Hand Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Good choice with the colour combo. Edited January 3, 2020 by Cool Hand
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Finished the interior. Being an old japanese car, I thought some mild victory pipes wouldn't look too out of place.
Cool Hand Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Interior looks the part. Well done. Victory pipes, outrageous LOL!
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Won't be any extreme pipes though, but I thought it could be a cool detail anyway.
