I will have more parts as they arrive by mail... ....some of the tools I'll need on the truck... ....even a cooler for those hot days... ....shop manuals... ....and possible tool boxes... Hoping to start this later today or tomorrow!...Thanks for looking!...Joe Edited January 4, 2020 by vettecote adding more text

Warren D Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Interesting idea, looking forward to seeing the direction you'll go with this.

I've heard they have a reputation lol Jeff, I believe I got the propane tanks from larrygscale on eBay. Actually I got a lot of the really small stuff from him. I have a oxy torch somewhere in my stash. I'll be looking for that! I hope it a good reputation!...Joe
vettecote Posted January 4, 2020 Author Posted January 4, 2020 Thanks guys! It might be a little slow at times, but it'll get there...Joe
Sam I Am Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 This looks to be a cool build. I have the T800 conversion kit for mine.
vettecote Posted January 4, 2020 Author Posted January 4, 2020 Basically where I'm going with this....I hope! Thanks for looking....Joe
iamsuperdan Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Very cool. I lease out a couple of these things every month, and am good friends with the owners at Brutus Truck Bodies, who specialize in aluminum service bodies. Fun to spec out and build in real life, and I've always had a plan to build a scale one.
vettecote Posted January 5, 2020 Author Posted January 5, 2020 Getting sub-assemblies together, de-chroming parts and readying for first parts to be painted. Haven't decided on a color scheme yet for the cab...Joe
Oldmopars Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 What a great build. I used to drive a service truck for a large rental company, but never got a truck this big or this cool. Looking forward to what you do with this.
iamsuperdan Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 If you need any detailed pics of what's inside these things, let me know. Crane towers, booster packs, waste oil recovery, etc.
vettecote Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Thanks Dan, I work with these almost every day. So I'm always looking at them and taking notes. I'll be sneaking in a few pictures , we' not allowed to have our phones at work, so sneak is the proper term for pictures..LOL...Joe
vettecote Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 A few changes coming! Going with the 3 axle truck, Cutting out the grill, to add a real grill,
vettecote Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 A few years ago I purchased this partial kit with metal chassis. I like the 12V71 in the kit, so in it goes! Thanks for watching...Joe
gotnitro? Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Love these kind of builds , definitely watching this progress
vettecote Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 I don't know when the changes will stop with me and this build, but here goes...I found an unbuilt Cat 3408 in my stash, so I put it together. Here it is in the metal frame. Here I'm blending in the de-chromed grill like on the real trucks. Hope to post more soon...Joe
gotnitro? Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Awesome job !!!! This is really gonna be cool build. Best part your working knowledge of how these trucks can be spec'd out . Usually hear bad fitment issues w these kw t600 cabs , your definitely whooping into shape Don mills sells those d ring door latches perfect for your truck.
vettecote Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 Thanks Jeff! Yes, I saw those latches before. They are cool and hoping to get some soon...Joe
vettecote Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Got my super singles in, just using the fronts... ...And got the Cat painted and test fitted.. Hoping to get started on the service body soon...Joe
gatorincebu Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Joe, That is going to be an intensive project. You are off to a great start . There is a lot of detail pieces available . And a nice set from KFS. And Howard's stuff is worth the scratch . Be Well Gator
am73grand Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I like where this is going! Cool idea for a build and you're executing it nicely!
