This will be my slump buster. Going to build it mostly box stock, probably no Baja bar or step bars. I also got a new building area with excellent lighting.

Wow this whole kit is pretty vague. It’s got the optioned dual tank bed but only one tank... on the passenger side. I think I might scrap the frame and make it a 2wd truck on air. So much for a slump buster.

Fill the lines on the right side and power through it! Love those springs, they would easily convert to old-school traction bars.

I have this kit about 3/4 done. I ditched the bed and have a service truck bed on mine. This required cutting the frame to make it longer and trimming off a bunch of stuff.

As for the front spring, they are bad, but not as bad as you think. The factory springs on all square body trucks (Front 4x4) were reverse arc and only 2 leaves. I have a 90 Suburban and they look just like the kit springs.

Interesting! I’ve only been around GMT400 trucks so haven’t seen too many straight axle trucks. Thanks for the info! Feel free to post photos of yours.

How does this paint look? I’m struggling to get a nice smooth gloss finish.  This is Tamiya gloss red thinned almost 1:1

Stripped the paint and started over. Waiting for some supplies so started on a ‘57 Cameo. See it in its own thread.

Whoa! What a turn this ride took. Another forum member gave me the idea to build a welding rig for my garage diorama. @zaina thanks for the idea. I will be converting my 350 to look like a 6.2 diesel - or attempt at least! I stretched the frame and am using the Revell wrecker bed as a base. The truck is of course the MPC still. The wheels are from a Jada die cast.

Cool, a Chevy Square Body!  I wouldn't worry about getting a nice paint job, that might put it back into the box.  Here is your chance to do a patina look!

I love the box art.  I have some better shots of a hike in Monument Valley, if you want a background picture.

Very nice view! I will probably weather this one up as well.

Small update for the evening. I stretched the frame, got it pretty sturdy, and sitting somewhat level. I also started working on a DMI bumper. I will be using some Freightliner fenders on the truck to make the dually flares. I think I’ll add a compressor, welder, and a tool box to the truck. Think I will give it a headache rack and a single stack.

Had to clean off my work station, it was getting a little messy.

I also started on a DMI rear bumper. I like these and tend to build more work trucks. I might cast these for personal use.

I think I will be scratch building this welder for the bed. 4F0D8008-BEED-4BFE-8754-938BA3E5AFF0.png.4b00d5c50df1e3d66cb6a387add45a48.png

Got one side of the dually bed installed. I am going to have a lot of putty and sanding to do. I also used the Moebius semi wheel set for this, as the tires are wider and better looking than the black ones.

Thank you! I’m liking it a lot myself.

Sounds like the "slump buster" is working.

Way to go, Keep on building!
