THarrison351 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 1948 Chrysler Town & Country by Danbury Mint. Not to long ago, I believe Randy commented everyone should have one of these. Well, now I have three. Two from Franklin and this one from Danbury. Ever since Randy made the comment I have been looking and he's correct about the rash on these. I've noticed a lot of sellers seem to take awful pictures of the cars and when they do take good pictures, rarely do they mention the rash. When I saw this one, the paint looked dull, but I couldn't see any visible bad rash. Nothing was broken and he had a buy it now or make an offer. I made a low ball offer which was kicked by eBay and made a slightly higher low ball offer which was also kicked by eBay and so I thought oh forget it. Next thing I knew I had the sellers purchase now in my email. So here it is before and the last shot is after polishing. The doors don't have doglegs like Franklin Mint's do, but they're still not prototypically correct. There is no way you could slide your legs between the seat and door. It doesn't really show well with my cell phone, but after I polished this with wax, it really pops! There is just the tiniest hint of rash on the cowl and that's about it. Tomorrow I'm off to the great white north for cold weather testing. Depending how late it is when I get to Winnipeg, I'll post the LE Franklin Mint for a comparison. We're supposed to be in Yellowknife on Sunday. We'll do a cold soak and start testing on Monday. The over night low is predicted -42. I think that's pretty close to same in Celsius and Fahrenheit. The high is like -35F, BRRR.
Tom Geiger Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 I have the same Chrysler and just noticed some very minor rash on the upper surfaces of the nose. Not a big deal right now, just looks like some dust in the paint. eBay offers - I don't think sellers know how to set these properly. A while back I saw a kit with "Make Offer" on it and went three rounds with the offers being rejected. My last offer was $5 less than the $100 asking price. So I forgot about it. A week later it expired and got relisted for $60, which was less than my first offer! So I grabbed it with the "Buy It Now".
stitchdup Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 I think the offers all get put to the seller, its up to them to accept it or not. I didn't realise also if you have something in youur watch list, the seller gets told its there and can offer you it cheaper. I got the amt payhauler for a really good price and a fewwheels through getting offers at the right time

But there are ways around it on either end I think. And yes sometimes you hope to sell one and then have to lower your expectations. I try to set my prices a little higher than I Will take so that maybe both sides feel like we did ok. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Negotiating on selling a DM Aston now. Offers and counters till we work it out I hope. Don't want to give it away but don't want to keep it forever either since it's one of my buddy's collection pieces.
