crowe-t Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Is there any tricks to paint parts of an interior to look like cloth?
Brutalform Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) I believe Testors has a cloth looking spray. Not sure of the available colors though. Edited January 16, 2020 by Brutalform

SfanGoch Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Vallejo 70520/26651/26518/69702 Matt Varnishes produce a dead flat finish when airbrushed.
Chuckyg1 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I use mainly craft store acrylics on interiors. They're flat, but you can add a semi-gloss over it, depending on the finish you're looking for.
RichCostello Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Krylon has a paint called "Make it Suede" that looks a lot like cloth.
peteski Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Didn't Scale Motorsports sell spray cans of suede paint?

LL3 Model Worx Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 To be honest, I think it was "Mustand1989's" Cross kit General lee thread? But that interior in that car is the business!! Looks so good it made me very very happy to see it! I would check out that thread, and perhaps ask him how he got "the look" because like I said, its gorgeous.
cobraman Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 There are decals that make the seats look like fabric . Testors tan and grey fabric texture paint as mentioned above .

I did some digging on the Interwebs and it was actually Faux Fabric paint that Scale Motorsports used to sell. It appears to be discontinued. Here is a link to black paint https://www.autoworldstore.com/product-p/sms5503.htm , but when these were still available, they came in other colors too. Edited January 19, 2020 by peteski

Hahaha, I've read about that stuff but have never used it. You wanna run down to the paint store and get me some plaid paint? Hahaha I actually got a guy with that one once!

I have used this on the seat of my 1:12 Lotus JPS. In my experience with it, it was more like splatter or texture paint. I can’t figure out how to get a picture from Fotki over to here using my iPad. I always use my laptop. Any suggestions?

Casey Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Alternatively, try using a woven fabric tape such as this, then apply flat paint and drybrushing techniques for a worn and weathered look. Easier on a flat bench seat or door panel, but could be made to work for an older style headliner, too.
