glass pack mufflers

 Does anyone know where I might get some glass pack mufflers? I know Detail master use to sell them but I'm not seeing them on their website.  If you know of any other source, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

If you don't need the contoured Thrush "Cherry Bomb" style glass packs, 

Model Car Garage did the Smithy's style glass packs in turned aluminum, and they are very nice. They seem to be discontinued, but there is a set on eBay right now.

I use aluminum tubing in different sizes (1/8" & 3/32").

I have used pieces of thick spruce from the kit. I cut to length, sand the ends to the desired shape. The ends can either be drilled to except the exhaust pipes or drill and install hollow tubing to replicate a flange and have the exhaust feed into the flange.

If I was going to resincast some, I'd use the ones from the Monogram '39 CHevy kits. They look real good.

I just found a pair of header type glass pack mufflers in an AMT 1969 Chevy Impala kit. These mufflers might have available in other kits from AMT, also.

 

EDIT:  I found a pair of header mufflers in the AMT 1969 Mercury Cougar XR/7 kit, so that's at least two possibilities. These could be modified if you didn't want header mufflers, but they have the shape of a lot of the typical glass pack mufflers I was familiar with back in the days of running around with loud pipes.
